At what point is a good point to call it a day though?
Unless I am very specifically being paid for it, which I would love to be and I would enjoy doing because I love CSS, there are features that would rather make my experience, and the experience of the entire site better over the course of a decade+, such as nesting. Nesting has changed everything about CSS for me with project organization that makes changes significantly easier, AND significantly easier to pass off to another person. Now that it's at about 90% browser compatability[0] I actively use it in every single project I can, but it's still not supported if you haven't updated your browser in 3 years or use a random oneoff browser that may come with your knockoff smartphone.
It is an excuse, but it's also an honest question. Granted, not all projects are created equal, some of them are for people looking for bleeding edge technology, where it makes sense they would have their browsers updated. Some are government websites that should be accessible to 100% of everybody even if they're looking at your page on a 14 year old psp.
[0] https://caniuse.com/css-nesting

To be honest, this job has changed my entire life. I don't exactly work with Google but nonetheless it's the same job being discussed. Nothing really egregious has happened to me in the months that I've been at it, other than only having 4 hours to fact check and verify a huge amount of information for one job, and it just wasn't enough time for me so I didn't get paid. But that was once out of hundreds? thousands? of tasks.
Unfortunately, I decided to take software engineering more serious and try to make it my career and then the entire market nosedived, with no signs of recovering anytime soon. Breaking into this market has more or less been impossible for a junior, and dare I say: a junior in their mid 30s. At least within this job I do get to work with code every so often, and I get to do it from home while I'm at it which is a bonus.
It's inconsistent so I'm still learning and looking for software, but for the meantime it's been incredible.

Last night I rented the movie Sinners off of Google play and was beyond incredibly annoyed that the playback was 720p the entire time in chrome and Firefox, on both Linux and windows. I honestly feel like I got ripped off, and I got that 10 dollar Google gift card for free.

Something I discovered while changing the thumb track of a range slider just the other day, is if you add padding-top to the thumb, it will also add padding to the bottom.
Even better, you have to set its appearance to none for chromium before you're able to style it in any capacity, which probably makes sense to somebody but not to me.

I've been using HSL for the last year or so but have definitely ran into the weird color modification issues the article mentions. I've always just dealt with it, but to reduce friction in something that has happened to me multiple times - consider me intrigued.
My only complaint for usability has nothing to do with oklch but at the time of writing it does not appear that vscode displays the colorblocks or selector for oklch, which just adds another tiny bit of a painpoint for me.
Either way, going to be using it in my current side project!

Love this! Love the design and font are fantastic choices as well. I actually just started last week building film grain into my current WIP and it really feels like it catches the eye so much more. Largely inspired by trying to make super high quality photos feel vintage by blurring + adding noise.
Exciting to see what more comes whenever you post. Digging this cursor blog as well.

As someone relatively new (few months in) to full-stack development, what can HTMX offer me? I've been semi interested since Prime mentioned it a handful of times, but I feel maybe I'm too new to fully understand what I gain from it. As soon as I'm finish with my current project, I'd like to check it out.
For reference, I'm currently working within the T3 Stack.

I'm always applying for the hell of it, because job descriptions are a mess anyways. These companies actively say they're entry level-junior level and then requires 6+ years experience. If they're gonna waste my time by just trying to get more eyes on their position to game the filter system, then I'm going to waste their time by sending my resume.
Let's not even talk about the companies that actively promote themselves as a remote position, and the chances of it actually being remote are about 10%.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say making a todo list has literally changed my life with ADHD, and I discovered this in the dumbest way possible.
I've been more or less addicted to MMOs, especially World of Warcraft. During Shadowlands (the previous expansion) the game was so awful that I quit for the first time after playing since 2004. I could play all day, and grind for hours on end just for Number Go Up™ and Box Checked©. It had NEVER occurred to me, even with an ADHD diagnosis, that this was the primary driving factor behind my addiction.
So after I quit with the intention of becoming a software engineer I was trying to find ways to tweak my brain to feel like I was still playing. I ended up programming a daily/weekly list so I could check off items as I did them.. I then added a faux xp bar and gave myself 10xp for dailies and 30 for weeklies. Then it was on. I keep myself in check to not add random bullshit to gain xp from - but using psychological manipulative videogame tactics to keep my brain on track in everyday life has completely changed everything for me.
Throughout all of this I've also returned to videogames in the last few months with a much healthier approach, because now I get my gratification from my real world goals and my need to check off my task list is greater than my need for more pixels. It's made videogames a lot more enjoyable too not focusing on playing past the point they're fun.

Lot of great quality of life stuff in this update, but especially being able to edit text objects by just.. clicking on it. Changing styles is nice too.
I don't often do anything with text within Blender for this specific reason, if your text was anything more than really a word or two it was nothing but friction.
Excited to be able to use it in a much easier manner. Blender remains one of my favorite pieces of software out there.

Absolutely love Notion, but that time it went down for a while a few years ago was the last time I've used it. The fact they still don't have an offline version is baffling to me cause I'd love to throw money at them for the product but here we are.
Obsidian is my main alternative as it mostly does what I want and does it locally. Not affiliated, I just think it's an incredible tool and the extensions you can get can turn it into something else entirely. For example, Joshua Plunkett turned it into an incredible RPG manager: https://www.patreon.com/posts/67310539

I feel like asking "What is AI adding that will appeal to people wanting to buy your game" can be said about a majority of games with or without AI. It's possibly also the wrong question, AI isn't necessarily adding anything special but it IS enabling much more powerful tooling for the creation of games.
The prototyping power and getting a general feel for how you'd like your design to be is only going to get stronger, utilizing these tools as a solo dev is going to be (and already is) such a gamechanger.
People like OP are also putting in the extra work that I'd argue is significantly more than just pressing some buttons and getting some results, though I do concede the next era of low effort asset-flip style of games is going to flood the market soon enough.

Prototyping and concept arting for game assets using stable diffusion has been a very enjoyable process for me. Seeing it being utilized more for isometric is pretty exciting with the sheer amount of iteration you immediately get.
Using img2img with your own rough drafts and seeing what the AI can come up with has knocked hours/days off of my process, couldn't be happier with these immensely powerful tools. Random aside, but AI is very good at making tile-able textures too, it's been great.
The video in the blog looks very solid in motion, will be interesting to see as you develop better shader techniques on the pieces.

Yeah and it's fantastic that those games still exist and allow things like modding and mapping, however both of those games are a decade old. It does feel somewhat like the trend has died down significantly for newer games, no?
I certainly love them though! I'm still holding out hope for Source 2 SDK and Hammer 2 to actually become a usable tool outside of VR or Dota 2.
Facepunch [0] (Makers of Garry's Mod) are utilizing Source 2 with Valves permission and everything they're working on looks pretty promising, with great potential for a new era of modding.
[0] https://sbox.facepunch.com/news

Videogames largely moving away from mapping/modding in general has been such a disappointing thing to me for many years now. I'm still playing Doom and Quake mods to this day and some of the content people put out is incredible. Recently an episode 2 for the Quake mod DWELL released and is of unbelievable quality that we couldn't have even imagined playing back in the 90s.
Community servers on the other hand.. those have almost all but vanished completely. It's pretty much just Valve games as far as AAA goes, and even they do their best to hide their server browsers now.
Unfortunately, it just seems like you can't aggressively monetize free content so the industry in general has moved away from allowing it.
