If I'm not mistaken, proton didn't give anything to the FBI, they provided what was required by law to the Swiss government who then gave it to the FBI. It's a small distinction but it matters.

I agree more can be done to shave game sizes but space is cheap these days so that's probably why it hasn't been a focus.

To be fair, they started working on the game before it was discontinued. I'm sure someone made a decision that it made more sense to continue on without support rather than start from scratch.
