AGPL doesn’t require you to open source the entire stack. Only the changes you made to the AGPL software if you interact with over a network
AGPL does not and has not prevented hyperscalers from creating managed services for software licensed with it
That’s why mongo created the server side public license, which does require open sourcing the entire stack. MongoDB was AGPL before that

Since tree sitter parsers output a c library, you could dynamically load it.
The rust bindings themselves are a thin ffi wrapper.
If you wanted to make it a little smoother than needing to compile the tree sitter syntax you could compile/bundle grammars up with wasm so its sandboxed and cross platform
Edit: found this vscode extension that dynamically loads syntaxes compiled to wasm. You should be able to do the same thing in rust: https://github.com/selfint/vscode-tree-sitter

Certainly not alone but it being something I use everyday and makes things just a little nicer for me, I was happy to pay for it
I’ve spent money on way dumber things

Very cool project. Love the name!
Tree of heaven is invasive as well, I wonder if using it as bait reduces the risk of attracting native/helpful insects
Reminded me a bit of this project that shoots mosquitoes with lasers: https://youtu.be/fH_x3kpG8Z4
