Similarly, I've gotten a few reasonable results by asking for Microsoft Office 2007 style or the Windows Vista file explorer, stuff like that.

WOW. Quietly editing the 4-year-old blog post is super slimy, holy crap. Also seems like since this story was published, they edited the 4-year-old blog post again. The story points out

Looking at the post right now, they've corrected it to Innovation and Trust.

I get it and I'm not trying to get down on you, but I've seen people around say this and it bugs me.

I don't know Japanese at all. Sometimes I use LLMs to translate discord messages into Japanese so I can communicate with Japanese people. Then as verification I translate the messages back (with different LLMs) and they usually come out as a near-verbatim version of what I wanted to say. In other words, they don't come out in the chatgpt style of writing.

If I'm able to do that, then chatgpt should be able to fix your English without chatgpt-ifying the whole comment.

I tried it with Nano Banana 2 through the API just now, and it was content filtering me on both white and black images.

I opened up Hacker News and I saw this right at the top, and I assumed it had started happening to everyone. I thought, good thing I'm not running Claude Code right now.

There's a dropdown on Google Translate that lets you choose "Advanced" mode or "Classic" mode. Advanced mode uses Gemini but it's only available for select languages.
