I believe that there are many in between the two extremes you mention for whom the draw of connection is far from benign, which is why I would not be so dismissive of addiction concerns.

> Why would anyone want to spend time trawling obscure library database systems only to find the library doesn't stock the right books or that someone has taken it on loan for an unknown period of time ?
You're setting up a bit of strawman, I don't see anyone arguing the internet is inferior to the library, but that library usage (for example) doesn't trigger the dopamine release cycle in the way refreshing a frequently changing webpage does.

If it's already not allowed to use data in this way - thus the fine - what purpose would allowing and revoking the right to do so serve. It's already prohibited.

I don't see how it's so traumatic for the engineers involved, unless the company culture in Fastly is really awful and there are punitive repercussions, or attempts to pin responsbility on individuals rather than systems, which I doubt.
Many here have been responsible for web service outages albeit on much smaller scales, and in my experience it feels awful while it's happening but you quickly forget about it because so does everyone else.

> Is it for people that are exposing themselves to potential carriers in unsafe ways?
It's this largely. The most obvious group in the UK are MSM men. It has to be taken more or less all the time by people who expect they may have encounters in which they could potentially be exposed, similar to the birth control pill.

> It has produced poor people easily to be able to store their wealth something that they can both afford and isn't constantly being debased
I can't get excited about people too poor to have access to banking putting their money into something as severely volatile as crypto currency.
There is room for new financial companies supporting mobile banking and banking in the developing world, but I don't see why crypto needs to be involved.

> Also, if your waking hours are say 0800-2300 then you can easily work late and move your leisure time to the morning without changing your sleep schedule.
Not necessarily. Early birds like me find it difficult to work in the evenings, despite being technically awake. I find it way easier to get up early than to stay up late, which can actually feel like torture sometimes.
As for the split, I've read it's more like 10% for each extreme with the majority in the middle, though I can't find a reference, and I suspect it's very hard to actually know.

I would assume the criteria is what mixture of denominations will require the least regular servicing. An area where the average daily withdrawal is high - ie a wealthy area - will run out more quickly if it's giving out small denominations, but in an area where smaller amounts will quickly be unable to provide the requested amounts if they're serviced with mostly higher ones.
