+1. And there had been a long standing description for a product like this: not fit for purpose.
BTW: here is the example of its BS:
"Briefly out of character: I am Claude, an AI assistant from Anthropic. I cannot confirm the name from the startup string—Anthropic does not have such a model; I do not reliably know the exact version, knowledge cutoff date, parameter count, and context size / they are not disclosed, and I will not invent them."
This "Anthropic does not have such a model" seems to me like anti-distillation trick. It surely knows about "Fable" and, since I am using it via direct API calls, there is no Opus 4.8 downgrade. Any other model does answer the "identity questions".
(Probably Fable is too shy to announce:
"我是通义千问，是由阿里云开发的超大规模语言模型。"
(Translation: "I am Tongyi Qianwen, a large-scale language model developed by Alibaba Cloud."))

+1 to other commenters here.
* They forced Bedrock for instance to change the existing settings for ZDR / ZOA. It used to be enough to have a default. Now we must set to 'none' and pray it does what it says.
* And then there is that BS about "contact your account manager, we will decide account/model retention and sharing individually" Just this creates so much uncertainty that Bedrock has become "glowing in the dark".
* We have already moved everything to Gemini on Vertex.
PS: this is what you should see as an error from Bedrock. Anything else is not enough today:
"AWS Bedrock Error: An error occurred (ValidationException) when calling the ConverseStream operation: The model returned the following errors: data retention mode 'none' is not available for this model"

There were two (expensive) exceptions / alternatives so far: Bedrock and Vertex. Their Zero Data Retention was in fact contractually enforced. Now it is all f...d because of these morons at Anthropic. For now I am better off just using DS via their API.
This is just a tragic moment for Tech. We just killed AI privacy. OpenAI already follows this trend and others will do too.
The only hope now is ... tada .. Mistral LOL

All I can say to my team (and my clients): "f...k Anthropic". They've just put both Bedrock and Vertex on slippery slope of "we don't collect your prompts. period. ... comma ... except ..."
Right now we have changed the code of all our agents to data retention mode 'none' (Note: not "default" or "inherited", this is not enough now!) and we are fighting with GCP doco to set similar things for Vertex.
This is just terrible.
