THE TLDR from the podcast:
....the reddit CEO said "all the good people we know will do something in public service/run for office." "my wife said I should give back to city of SF some how..." "I have a big decision."
And he non-named how most start founders want the wrong thing from local politics.
I met Seibel once and he was the nicest person I ever met formally associated with the big orange YC.

Hi hackernews;
My friend and I built Arcana (https://github.com/arcana-ad) to solve the critical monetization challenge facing GenAI developers today.
While GenAI applications are seeing explosive adoption, developers struggle with a fundamental problem: traditional ad models destroy the user experience in AI-generated content.
Our solution:
●AI-based contextual analysis that understands the intent of AI-generated content
●Seamless integration of our Codex SDK into your stack in less than 5 minutes
●Non-disruptive, native ads that feel like a natural extension of AI interactions
●A revenue-sharing model with no monthly fees for Publishers
We've already onboarded 8 publishers with 150+ advertisements in our network, and over 50 developers have scheduled integration meetings in just two weeks.
If you're building in the GenAI space and looking for sustainable revenue without compromising user experience, I'd love to connect. We're particularly interested in feedback from the HN community on our approach to privacy-first, contextual advertising.
thanks Hackernews longtime reader first time poster
-peoplenotbots
sign up: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1WtfqJcGmJElmOYvPV2kqA2Uw0C2...

There are such products. Outside of America whatsapp is a dominant social app but its use internally is almost mute despite being an american social app.
Tiktok america is over 50% of tiktok revenue I think that more than anything else would choke out growth world wide.

"Does the wider start up economy still look positively on pivoting?"
yeah that's the core question I guess.
A little background; my cofounder and I have a good start up but we're struggling to accelerate growth and raise capital because our current product is a simple Saas company.
In our frustration we started a side project. We started working on a "cynical ai pivot" and after 2 months of work its paid off, we have a couple customers of the "cynical ai pivot." Should we keep the same company and pivot the product or should we start a new company? Does the wider start up eco-system still celebrate pivoting or would it look better for us to start fully fresh.
-Long time reader first time poster.

Long long time ago; youtube "staff" would manually put certain videos on the top of the front page when they started. Im sure there we're biases and prioritization of marketing dollars but at least there was human recommending it compared to poorly recorded early family guy clips. I dont know when they stopped manually adding "editors/staff" choice videos but I recall some of my favorite early youtubers like CGPGgrey claim that recommendation built the career.

Business wise makes sense google's cashflow is based on shoveling mostly shitty ads at people and youtube allows people to self select for more profitable ads.
Longterm will continue to harm google's product of search and youtube media products as it will motivate some people to figure out more ways that are more costly to google to dodge ads.
Human side wise this is starting to feel like the strangest form of corporate bullying. I want to believe that the motivation is to push up the demand for the strange mix products that is youtube premieum.
