Rented a model y last month from them and drove nearly 6,000 miles round trip to visit family out of state. Had to stop more than I did when I’ve previously done the drive in my ICE car, but other than that, very smooth experience. The supercharger costs were more than I expected, but basically a wash with gas. More chargers of course are needed (looking at you SE Arizona and West Texas), and it’d be nice to see EVs have a useable range of 300+ miles of highway driving between charging stops.

Here’s some fun context from one of their earnings calls from last year. Basically, management at cloudflare are blaming sales for many of their current issues. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sahilmansuri_lets-talk-about-...?

One data point, but ~10 years ago, I called the electric providers in DFW to get some quotes. We have this and that option, yada yada yada. I told them that I wanted whatever was cheapest, and much to my surprise, it was the 100% wind option.

I've been hearing lately that "buy what you can, build what you must" is the approach to procurement for orgs like NASA and SDA. If it is the case, one would hope this means more folks like ROCKY can get over that initial hump and grow within those orgs. Would be interesting to hear if that mirrored your experience or not.
I'm not so convinced based on my experience. Seems like that could be the ideal, but in practice for such a large institution it seems difficult to implement. Sharing the word that this team over here is using XYZ and seeing good results to that team over there is challenging.

Was anybody else not taught things like this in school? Shortcuts like these where you get pretty close, but not exact are really useful; however, I recall math in school having to be exact or it was wrong. These handy get-you-close-enough tricks are helpful in competitions, standardized tests, real life. Anyways, thanks for sharing!

Had the same situation. I'd forever be asking, "what's your plan for this or that item that's just lying around clearly not put away?" because that's how I approach it. There wasn't a plan, it was all spontaneous, willy nilly. We made it work, but I've found it's far less draining to simply find a roommate, now it's a significant other, who operates similarly to me.

Sell software for a living, and have for 5+ years. Find people who you think might be interested in what you have to offer (from your network, linkedin, googling, etc.), message them, set up a meeting, ask them about their business, and listen to what they have to say. It will either continue from there or it won't. Rinse and repeat. Ultimately, selling is networking and solving other people's problems. If you can do those two things, you'll get sales.

Lots of good info in here. Some thoughts from a current B2B software sales guy:
* The successful B2B sales folks I’ve encountered aren’t what the general public would deem your typical salesperson. They listen more than they talk. They’re looking to help. They aren't pushy.
* You can’t control whether someone says yes or no or even if they respond. Figure out what you can control (whether or not you ask, how many people you reach out to, etc.), and focus on that. The other stuff will follow.
* Predictable Revenue has been mentioned. It’s a good ideal to strive for. I’d argue it’s overkill for a company in its infancy. For a new business, I’d suggest something simpler. Find about 100 potential customers, reach out to them, talk with them, and see if there’s a fit. Go from there.
* Sales is solving problems. What problem(s) do you solve? What problem(s) do your potential customers have? Is there a fit? “You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar
* Some folks to follow on Linkedin
