Part of the beauty of climbing is solving a puzzle and figuring things out.
Edit: Unsurprised to see the demo on a gym route instead of actual rock.

A few that I’ve encountered:
- Feature generation for machine learning model training (particularly popular with fraud detection at financial institutions)
- social networks (think LinkedIn or Facebook)
- supply chain analysis and optimization
- healthcare patient data analysis (looking at similar patients to recommend treatments or do large scale analysis)
- user identification (eg taking lots of data points and tying to a specific user). There’s a more specific name for this I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I'm a 25 year old managing a global team of 8 people. I'm self-conscious about my age both in my 1:1s with my reports and when talking with customers. That being said, it seems like things are going well. My team is doing great metrics and achievements wise and the company we work for tripled in size in under a year.

An MTG limited player named Ryan Saxe created an AI that drafts and builds deck to a highly successfully degree:
https://github.com/RyanSaxe/mtg
He was able to reach Mythic, the highest ranking tier on Magic Arena. Of course this is a different problem to actually playing the game (and probably significantly easier). That being said, this is one guy doing it as a side project with restricted resources.
I imagine that MTG could played quite successfully by an AI if someone where to dedicate the resources. Imo much of the difficulty is in laying the groundwork. Large amounts of data don't exist publicly and laying the framework for a bot to play itself would be quite difficult (and then the computation costs would be extremely expensive).

Also a Hearthstone player here- I used to regularly hit top 200 legend on ladder. I think one of the biggest lessons that I got out of starting to get more into the competitive scene is that there's more to games than trying to be the absolute best and that I need to set my limits and figure out where I can have fun without letting something take over my life.
I've since cut back significantly on my Hearthstone playing and been able to apply similar thinking to other games I've picked up (for example Magic The Gathering: Arena). Games are for having fun not for endlessly trying to get better. That was probably a mentality that I picked up from years of MMORPG (Runescape) addiction.

I agree here. I really don't understand some of the bashing that happens every single time the Macbook Pros come up in HN comments.
I was a longtime happy owner of a 2015 15" MBP until earlier this year when I decided it was time to upgrade to a refurbished 2019 16" MBP. I was a bit nervous at first but I have to say that I have no major complaints, other than the fact that I wish I had F keys instead of the touchbar. Contrary to everyone else, I really like the keyboard.
As for solving the touchpad issue, I use Pock [1] which I read about on HN. It removes the need for using a slider every time I want to adjust the volume or brightness and lets me control Spotify and see what song is currently playing.
I also have a 2018 15" MBP for work. If you believed the comments here you'd think that I am unable to type or use the damn thing. Honestly, after 1 week of use I'm already used to the keyboard. Not having an escape key kind of sucked, but I have rebound caps lock to escape on all of my Macbooks and enjoy that even more than having an escape key.
My other complaint is that the trackpad is a bit too large - I find myself accidentally hitting it sometimes and it just seems excessive. Finally, it's a shame that you can't mess with the battery/RAM/SSD yourself but unfortunately that's more of a trend for the industry than just Apple.
Overall I'm a totally happy user on both the 2018 and 2019 Macbook Pros. I was quite nervous about the possibility of having to use a Windows PC for work when I started my new job. And don't even get me started on having to use a Pixelbook at Google.
[1] https://pock.dev/
