For context: This was apparently dropped at the Rocket League Paris Major today. A teaser for the future of Rocket League on a Sunday was not on my bingo card for the first official UE6 reveal. Nevertheless, this may be building up to a Summer Game Fest announcement, much the same way UE5 was revealed in 2020. Time will tell.

I am rooting for Kagi here, and I applaud their transparency on such matters. It is quite enlightening for someone like me who understands technology but knows little about the inner workings of search.

It remains to be seen how or if the remedies will be enforced, and, of course, how Google will choose to comply with them. I am not optimistic, but at least there is some hope.

As an aside: The 1998 white paper by Brin and Page is remarkable to read knowing what Google has become.

I have over ten years experience with Unreal, so the cost of switching engines would be very high, and must offer something irresistible in return.

Regarding your second question: Unreal effectively has no licensing fee for most developers. The engine is free, you get access to the full source code, and you pay a 5% royalty only after you have made $1 million gross revenue.

This is great! Some of the listed Oregon airfields aren't foo far from me, so I might have to pay them a visit.

I'm an avid researcher of abandoned locations and their histories. There is nothing quite like immersing yourself in the past, especially if you can stand in the location for yourself. Imagine all the paths that intersected there; the lives that were changed. Even the smallest trace you leave behind may be rediscovered by someone in the future, and they may wonder what your life was like. They may even be connected to you in some way. Perhaps this trace is what leads them to discover that connection.

I understand and even applaud their decision to grow carefully and deliberately. At the same time, I have been on the waitlist for a year or so and I am eager to try it out.

Of all the Twitter competitors, I find Bluesky the most intriguing. I love the idea of managing my own feeds and connecting my own domain. There is a sense of control and privacy that I find appealing. It remains to be seen if Bluesky can deliver on its vision, but I look forward to experiencing it for myself.

It seems that way to me. From what I can gather after reading the article, it seems they are:

1. Developing Zed in the open 2. Allowing anyone to watch and give feedback on the development from within Zed itself (it looks sort of like IRC channels in the screenshots) 3. Eventually allowing people in those channels to actively participate in the development live (sounds like Google Docs meets GitHub pull requests)

You can hide the title bar while vertical tabs are enabled. I am using it on a laptop and it feels great.

They definitely can. I listen to a podcast about indie horror games on Spotify and they regularly insert an ad that sounds like someone cranked the gain and compression to 11.
