In my headcanon octarine is a colour between orange and deep purple. Sometimes it has a hazy blackish halo.

I'd suggest the LLM visualiser (1) by Brendan Bycroft. I'm a visual learner and it helped me understand LLMs better than anything else ever could.

"but "Green policies forbid those actions nowadays" is a bit of a dogwhistle that you oppose environmental protection regulations broadly (not merely overzealous ones that have side-effects that make combating certain types of wildfires harder in certain situations)"

thats a bit of a "dogwhistle" that you're not actually convinced that green policies can ever be deranged and counterproductive. On the contrary. I don't know if you're a a brainwashed virtue signaler, but I'm assuming it. You don't say so outright, but the mental gymnastics of calling someone a climate changer denier who just said climate change is widely recognised are staggering.

This truly is the least intelligent timeline. Please check with Dunning and Kruger if you're part of the problem.

sure but anthropic is not literally in the comments complaining, so it's not quite apples to apples, right?

I wonder if this ritual of meta-self-policing serves some particular purpose or if it's just a case of the brain drawing comfort from going through a familiar ritual. "This comment adds nothing" is like the reverse amen in church of our days.

I think we'd be better off limiting whom to kill to one person only.

I mean sure, but look, I will not make the same mistakes.

Also my context is totally different. And MY oven concept has none of the drawbacks of their oven and Claude tells me I'm definitely on to something.

I'm off to the notary to sign the docs for Oven.ai (got the domain for only 300k!!) See ya on my yacht!

New comment by phikappa in "Immich 3.0"

phikappa — Thu, 02 Jul 2026 17:57:55 +0000

There's a lot of things I spent a ton of time setting up, use once, and then never again. Tons of things that are easy to set up, and provide small benefits every day for a long time. Immich has got to be the thing that I've spent ages setting up, use extremely infrequently but the one time a year I use it I'm so happy I did. Great software.

I wouldn't call it so much a false friend as forest/foreign (and forfeit and I'm sure a bunch of other words) all coming from the same Latin "foris" root and being semantically related.

In Italian, outside is just "fuori".

You're a foreigner to what you've forfeited in the forest.

Interesting case of double-layered false nominative determinism. Although foresta in Italian means "forest" and thus the surname would seem eminently plant-based, it actually means "foreigner", which I guess he also ended up being as Italian immigrant in the US. The etymology of forest and foreigner is closely related and means basically just "(from the) outside".
