I don't understand the logic behind model sizes and quantization.
Suppose I have 100GB of unified memory, how should I know which model suits it best? I understand how a 2.4T model wouldn't fit, but I don't understand the impact of quantization and whether I should use a 200G model quantised to fit say 90GB of memory, or a non-quantised 90G model.

I found it hard to vote just by saying "I like this design" for each one individually. Since we have a set of limited option, I'd rather compare and pick the ones I prefer in comparison of the others.
I helped Claude build a simple web app (static, local, oss) to make you choose among pairs, to progressively determine your personal preference.
It outputs your top 3, you can share the summary like this:

 Recto Verso Euro
 My top euro banknote designs:
 Design H
 Design D
 Design B
 → https://pil0u.github.io/recto-verso-euro/#r=HDBJIGECFA&c=68

It's very WIP, but I found this approach useful to fill the survey, so why not share

Top comments discuss the price, the design, the tech, which is what I expect on HN of course.
I do question: why? $8000 to pick up the laundry and fold clothes. Good god, is this what innovation and technology aspires to achieve in 2026?

I appreciate your comment, and can relate. I tested a couple of "memory" systems, doing some heavy lifting or seemingly implementation of theories (layering, hot memory, etc), I can't really tell if they improve performance, quality or reliability on a task. But they do increase the overhead, for the LLM and for me, that's for sure.
One problem I have is that now CLAUDE.md or skills tend to get version controlled within projects, I suspect they could get in the way sometimes.
There is already so much fatigue induced by these systems, adding another one willingly does sound crazy.

I am not the author, his blog posts about the topic were very helpful in my process to 1. become aware of my own addiction 2. be confident in changing habits, and phone.
A lot of discussions online involve "you can disable notifications on a normal smartphone" or "you can use Screen Time to limit yourself" or, the worst, "just have some discipline". Imagine telling a cigarette or a drug addict "just have some discipline", it makes zero sense and shows a total lack of understanding of what is at stake.
There are various kinds of addictions, and saying "smartphone addiction" is a convenient way to hide more individual potential issues. For me, it is "internet addiction", and the ability to be connected any second with a small computer in my pocket is part of the problem. So replacing the object itself is, for my case, a necessary first step.
This article resonates a lot for me, and in 2026 the offer of "dumbphones" seems to have reached a level where people have some choice. To each their flavour, I'm testing one, let's see where that leads.

I agree that government legislation is part of the equation, but I don't agree that moving to other platforms is not a solution. If Discord were to witness a significant exodus of paying users because of this new verification process, they would probably start fighting the fight themselves.
That said, I don't expect this to happen, switching is very hard for many reasons.
