If cats are killing wild animals that happen to flourish in human environments, is that such a loss to biodiversity?

(Genuine Q. I don't know anything about what biodiversity folk look for.)

Are they counting the loss due to human-induced reduction of biodiversity? E.g. wiping native land and replacing it with houses/cities/roads.

Humanity has a cost on nature, that should be mitigated.

Humans like domestic cats, which is one contributor to the overall human-induced reduction in biodiversity.

I wonder also whether there's something about towns/cities that makes birds flourish, compared to other wild animals.

When I want to debug reachability concerns, it's a shame that I can only use ping/traceroute between the non-NAT peers, and then have to SSH to my reverse proxy to do yet another ping to the backend. Similar for tcpdump.

This is the cost to splitting your routing between layer 3 and 4.

I'm now IPv6 everywhere, and so I get to just use ping. Much simpler.

Further, protecting IPv6 services is simpler, because I can terminate (m)TLS on the backend. With a reverse proxy on another host, I have to have yet another means of securing the proxy-backend path. Yet more complexity!

Consumers should be protected by firewalls. That's independent of routing.

That post advocates for passthru terminal persistence, and instead letting your host terminal/WM be the multiplexer.

hrdx looks great, but as it does it's own multiplexing, I'm not sure the post's rationale is suggesting something like hrdx.

Great. I have a few IPv6-only hosts, and having to workaround GitHub being ipv4-only was a pain, especially during turnup, since my host config is stored on GitHub.

It took me about 20-30 re-reads of the first page to understand it.

The rest of the chapter was then a bit easier. I gave up after that.

But it really is a great idea in the first few pages.
