Will be interesting to see what excuses these companies will come up with to justify stopping investment in AI without spelling it out. The first one was already announced: it's going to kill everyone so we need to proceed more slowly.

Everyone gets paid what they can demand and everyone pays as little as they can get away with, it's nothing specific to doctors or private equity.

You are misinformed. A lot of people in Europe and Canada also have private insurance, sometimes paid by the employer as well, and with that the wait times are usually very short. Going through the public healthcare system you may indeed wait months for non urgent matters.

How positive would he be if instead he had spent a bit of his wealth in improving the world, like curing a disease instead of just trying to live forever?

To me he reminds of those stories of wealthy medieval ladies bathing in the blood of virgins. You just know this psychopath is one capitalistic stepping stone away from doing it.

I guess when you have 65k tests you can use an AI for transpiling, and it still seems it took an enormous amount of hand holding. That is very far from actually writing new code. But you tell me, are you a software developer? Write or have code written everyday? I am one and for me and everyone I know AI has been mostly just a (fantastic) replacement for google search.

Elon must be looking to merge the new amalgamation of SPCX into TSLA and join all his sinking ships in one. Starlink itself won't be able to save that, but make it too big and the government might. That is the way to get to the ridiculous valuations needed for Elon's pay package.

We know nothing about Anthropic, they make a few money go round deals, announce a bit of revenue, extrapolate it into the whole year and people parrot that they may be making $50bn. Most likely the cost to remain competitive eats at whatever revenue they could hope to make. I expect them to fudge the numbers the last quarter before their IPO, dump on passive investors, and then go back to being officially unprofitable.

The counterparty in prediction markets are whales though, and those are the few players making money off it. The ROI is also less negative in casinos and sports betting than prediction markets.
