open source / free software is not necessarily free as in free beer. You can sell GPL software.

Does your ISP not offer static prefixes?

For 5€/mo additional I get a static /32 v4 (for NAT64) and a /60 v6 prefix.

I love IPv6, SLAAC, mDNS, Thread, Matter and the other cool stuff in the ecosystem. I have wasted too much time setting manual DHCP static assignments. Now I just use SLAAC and mDNS with basically no manual config.

You are forgetting that by not allowing more open platforms they effectively force you to accept Apple/Google EULA's essentially forcing you to give your private data to Google/Apple.

Google's Pixels have been one of the most open Smartphone hardware lines though. Only a small handful of vendors support Android Verified Boot with custom keys.

The report you mean (csiro) was wildly biased though. They based their nuclear power cost estimate on a nuclear reactor that was never deployed anywhere (Nuscale) instead of "normal" nuclear power plants that have been deployed for decades.

Or just use IPv6-only. Thats what I do.

Legacy ipv4 only services can be reached via DNS64/NAT64

Matter (a smart home connectivity standard in use by many embedded devices) is using IPv6. Doesnt seem to be a problem there.

Have used both and personally find project tracking thats integrated into the git forge a lot better.

Have used Gitlab+Jira in the past and now only use Gitlab and like it a lot more.

Sure, but not the weather conditions and visibility.

And "as accurate of a sim as it gets" isn't true either. War Thunder has much better missile physics.

Personally I'm pretty happy with GrapheneOS (Android AOSP distribution) and also donating to it. It works for me, its licensed under a free software license, there are plenty of cool free software applications available. I'm familiar with Android application development if I need something custom.

Unless Android (itself, not Google Play Services because I don't depend on them) goes closed source I don't see a reason to switch to something (imo) inferior.

I have nothing PmOS, phosh and other free mobile smartphone projects and will probably redirect my resources towards them if Android goes closed source.
