Doh, the ones who own the guns are the criminal. If not today, one day in the future.
Most women who own a firearm and get shot are shot with their own firearm.
Firearms in an household with kids need to be locked out for the safety of all, rendering them useless if someone in a family is in threat of being harmed. There is virtually zero situation where it would help the family. Trying to stop a robbery is the best way to get shot, armed or not. One is always better off letting the thieves go and get compensation from insurance. Weapons im your household only increase the chance of someone in the household killing their spouse/siblings/parents without increasing the safety against criminals outside.
Gun owners who pretend to arm themselves against crime are really converting themselves into potential criminals. One can be mentally ok at the date of purchase but nobody can be 100% sure their mental health will stay the same all their life and we can't expect them to surrender their firearms when needed. Thus it should be a crime in itself to purchase guns.

There were models with tons of problems, other that were bullet proof really.
I think if we take french cars (Renault/Peugeot/Citroen) in general, most major reliability issues have been on diesel cars exhaust gas recirculation systems due to strict european emissions and they are far from the only brands suffering from that.
German cars were known for their great reliability in the early 90's but in later decades had all sort of electronical gremlins.
Also I think regardless of their actual current reliability, some brands or models attract on average different kind of owners which impact how actual services are followed, if the car is stored inside or outside, if the owner take care or not of warming up the engine in the morning or floor it while cold, and the general care they apply to it.

No they tell you at the entrance that at any point they may unilaterally decide to replace the alcoholic drink you ordered by a non alcoholic one.
You can decide you are okay with that or not but they aren't dishonest. I wouldn't enter that bar personally but if you do you cannot really complain. It is like complaining because you haven't won at the casino.

> It is not reasonable for them to say "sure, here's your alcoholic drink as you requested" and give them an alcohol-free substitute without telling them.
Your analogy doesn't work because:
- they tell you the rules at the entrance of the bar
- they totally tell you when they give you a substitute
The only issue is the bartender asking you for your money before serving you the drink really but again, this is known since day 1 by the customers.

> I think many software engineers forget they exist to get real things done (in many cases at least) and they are a cost center for most businesses. If your end product is not selling software, very few people actually Doing the Thing(tm) will give a single solitary care about code quality or maintainability when they can just spend 30 minutes and $15 worth of tokens to fix it.
I am suprised to hear people so naive they expect their token usage to stay flat if code quality and maintainability starts falling exponentially?
What if to fix 2 bugs your LLM starts adding 50 new ones? Will you tell your customers in supports channel "sorry software is finished, if we try fixing anything, everything else might break, not worth it". Or "we can probably fix it, but our AI usage will raise so much we need to up the subscription 3 fold, you choose".
The speed at which LLM codes is only comparable to the speed at which they add garbage to your repo. If you stop caring about maintainability, you also stops caring about your AI/LLM related bills and the viability of your project past the PoC stage.
