I find it quite interesting that while the picture looks better the more advanced the model is, but apparently none so far "understands" that the pelicans legs are on both sides of the bike / top bar.

I think this is bigger news than many here care to admit. Most companies' AI "strategy" is very naive and depending on subscription based cost calculations. Token-based billing will force those companies to actually think deeper about costs versus benefits. And that's going to be a rude awakening. Other AI providers will follow suit sooner or later. Most probably did by means of intransparent compute cuts and Token throttling.

> A life well-lived is really what we should all hope for.
That doesn't make sense. A life however-lived implies you're dead. You cannot admire your well-lived life.
> I can’t change the past, but I can change the future.
You cannot change the future ...
Maybe you're not a native speaker. The reason why I reply is because I notice that many people fall into language traps when reasoning about something philosophical. The result of that reasoning looks good but doesn't check out and hence doesn't get you anywhere in terms of actually realizing something important.

It's also worth reflecting on what's underlying the dream. Your "dream" was prestige. You obtained it and it disappointed you. My hypothesis would be that underlying your desire for prestige was a fundamental desire to be loved. Then you realized that prestige only looks superficially like being loved but it's actually something very different and materialistic. If you had reflected that earlier you could have avoided wasting effort for obtaining prestige. The same mechanism is true for all dreams.

when you were into Legos, the bricks used were of universal shape. modern sets like this are mostly of a shape that is highly specific to the intended outcome. which is basically orthogonal to the original appeal of playing with Lego. I'm saying that as someone who grew up with two large boxes full of Lego bricks and pieces.

back in the days of LAN parties, assembling PCs, making your own website with HTML/CSS/Perl, torrenting music etc. it seemed like a lot of random people around me had some level of competence and enthusiasm for at least one IT area. this is all gone. while one can argue that given how comfortable UX got and so you no longer need to know what a file is, I nonetheless believe such enthusiasm has never been more important. instead people are happy with what a bunch of mega corporations spoon feed them.

personally I don't find this particularly unappealing and have often referred to myself as some sort of plumber. plumbing is all about connecting standardized interfaces (threads) and then some improvisation. in IT the amount of improvisation is higher due to less standardized interfaces and interfaces are more complex. but the analogy works and I enjoy thinking about how to make interfaces exchange information efficiently.
