For me: Primary level, Ancient eastern wisdom(Hinduism, Buddhism, Yogic texts) to attain calmness during storm/failures. Then on secondary level, modern tech people like steve jobs, engineers who build open source etc.

Wow, I was actually thinking of trying freelance on these platforms. After seeing your experience, I don't feel motivated. I 've heard people getting gigs through X by reaching out to people, through networking. I've not tried this myself but I know few who even make reels on tiktok and clients reached out to them.

Personally I'm not much of a content creator but I've been on X enough to see it's potential. The only challenge is to be consistent there. I'm thinking of getting back there and make a flow to network because I want to work on freelance projects as I'm not interested in a full time job.

Dear members,

I've been working in the edtech sector for 5+ years, and I'm curious if anyone here is building something exciting in this domain.

I also want to discuss what problems you see new-age kids/grads facing, and what do you think we can do to solve them?

Personally, for the past 1 year, I've been teaching coding to K-12 kids, and I see how much they use AI and how they use it. I'm observing how AI is impacting their thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Would love to hear what others are seeing and building in this space.

I think the worse thing is, it has become purely AI slop and posts are mostly low quality.

I agree. Luckily I learnt coding during covid before AI and I experienced how to debug/build through google, stackoverflow etc. Those who are just starting and using AI for everything, they don't know what's called real brainstorming unless AI fails to debug or give expected results.

Yeah, I agree. Unless it's just AI assisted, then reviewing makes sense.

True, thanks for your explanation. I was thinking the same, because I use AI to speed up and I don't accept code unless I know what the code does. Even in YC, I've seen many founders build prototype with AI but again, there's difference between AI slop and AI assisted.

Dear members, I saw someone show HN project got flagged and people were commenting it is probably because it looked AI slop. I'm curious, is AI use not allowed in projects which is shown here ? I think, everyone is using AI in projects these days, isn't it ?

One of the main challenge is, building trust takes time. Even if you feel you have got one, it will take time to develop faith in your partner. When I left my job in 2024 to work on my idea or join someone else's idea, I tried working with many people, but none worked out. It's way different than what it seems from the top.

As of now, I still believe finding a cofounder and it makes things easier especially when you have a job and a family which takes most of your time. You just need to be practical and see red flags which will tell you it won't work out.

I think best is to try without compromising important details of your project, when you feel you can trust, then go 100%.

As of now, AI annihilating whole humanity is pretty much fear mongering to sell IPO. But we might reach there where their capabilities are advanced enough to create threats that can be concerning. I think that's 20-50 years timeframe, it might be early or late. All depends on development speed.

I agree, if not planned properly, it can increase friction and make it complicated. However, your idea of personas is good, you can use it and also add certain toggles as per where you are going to show your profile to only those who you want to.

For example, for farmer's market, your profile will be visible to only coworkers at that time and when during bbq at your house, your family members can see it. It's a one time setting, I think it's cool.You don't need to built it instantly, you can go in phases.

I think Insta has rolled location thing, but here I'm talking about location + personas, I hope you understand my point and I'm not making it complicated ?

This is nice, what features do you have in your mind beyond this ? Do you plan to add randomisation where you can meet whoever is available in that region(let's say supermarket) beside your normal friends ?
