Lol. A data center is no more than a industrial bread bakery (oddly specific i know). The entire anti-data US center is ran by China. EG. You can run a rack of servers in your closet. China is doing a great job.

If you are in tech, never move for a job immediately. Work there for 90 days before you even touch a UHaul form. I have been at companies where within 20 minutes I hated my coworkers (playing EDM on high all day in office). Just get a hotel at motel 6. If you are loving the job then the move is a less stressful and enjoyable.

Can someone explain it to me like I am 5. Why did postgres win vs mysql? I don't know many companies at scale that use postgres. Slack, youtube, etc all use a mysql based sharding system https://vitess.io/. I thought the war was lost for postgres, but it seems to keep going. License issues? (Disclosure, I manage 'a few' mysql vms).

I easily do more than x 5 the workload I did in 2020. Replacing an employee with domain knowledge (only thing valuable now), with someone with zero domain knowledge is corporate suicide in 2026.

However, if you are oracle sending out consultants with zero domain knowledge around to help.... I would rather just use claude.

Teacher uses AI, creates lesson plan -> AI creates assignments -> Teacher gives assignments to students -> Students use AI to do assignment -> Teacher grades with AI -> Principal uses AI to monitor teachers progress.

This is happening at schools nationwide. It is unstoppable at this point. It's a bizarre charade.
