Show HN: Cuenv (CUE for to replace direnv, Just, and more)

Cuenv uses CUE configuration files to define environment variables and project tasks. When you cd into a project directory, the environment defined in *.cue is loaded automatically, and cleaned up on exit.

It supports variable interpolation, secret resolution (e.g. from 1Password or GCP Secrets Manager), per shell hooks, and secure sandboxed execution via cuenv run.

It integrates with Nix, devenv, and more. It’s also monorepo native, due to how CUE works by default

The irony here is that the author doesn't know how to use containers, there's nothing specifically Docker there, yet seems to portay a level of Unix knowledge ...

I can't seem to get my head around this. I've never heard of this so called init system, it's not in any repositories, and the article has strong hints of being entirely fabricated?

They don't need a new protocol to deliver a stable and sufficient product for their customers, I agree.

I'm suggesting that a new protocol needs hype for adoption and reinventing email needs new capabilities
