I mean... isn't that the point of dark matter and dark energy? To be a stand-in name for stuff we have to account for but can't detect properly? The dark here means dark as in "we are in the dark about that".
It does not really matter if those exist or are an artifact of current theories, replacing relativity is not that easy and there are already a ton of physicists working on that anyway.
In the meanwhile of either having instruments capable of detecting these or a new theory that demostrates that those are artifact emerge... they have to exist. That's the point of them.

Are patents even worth today other than for the medical sector?
Like, lots of things can be covered by copyright anyway. For example there is absolute 0 point in software patents, software is covered by copyright and society does not benefit for covering with patent law the parts that are not covered by copyright as they would be invented anyway, and a patent on non-copyrightable software stuff is the same as not being disclosed to the public as by the time the patent expires, it will most likely be too late, only thing it does is prevent other people from inventing it again, which I think is a worse consequence.
The only sector where I see that patents still make a lick of sense for society is in the pharmaceutical sector as medicines are very expensive to develop and would not be properly covered by copyright.
Maybe it is just me but I just fail to see the point of patents for anything else in the world of today, they are a net negative for society.

Yeah, Steam is surprisingly pro-consumer in unexpected ways. Not like they don't have their closet skeletons but they present themselves as nicer than others companies in the videogame sector with their actions.
I wonder if it is because ideology from the top or just a very robust good-reputation based company policy.

Maybe it would be better if it worked by a system of strikes? Like if one of the accounts that you are sharing cheats, that account gets banned and yours get a strike, this strike means you and the other accounts that use your copy are more closly and harshly monitored but you can still play, if another cheat is detected in that copy then you get a ban.
This would give breath room for parents to explain to their kids that they should not cheat without leaving that much leeway for cheaters themselves.

The best one would be:
total = sum(map(f, data))
Not only does it take less resources as it only has to loop once because map creates a generator. This is absolutly the use case of map, if you want to apply the same function, which is already defined, to all members of a list/iterator, map is the correct tool for the job. Now if you wanted to apply a transformation that is not in a function there would be an argument to use a comprehension as it would be better than using an inline lambda in a map. But if you already have the method you want to apply, just use map() and then pass that to sum()

I mean, there are situations where there could be a bit wiggling room to allow a neurodiverse person to break decorum a bit. For example, if someone has tourette they could be excused a bit the same way an autistic person can be excused a bit for not noticing a subtle social cue.
But there is a clear difference between allowing a bit of leeway to break decorum and allowing one to be a massive asshole.
I think there is a balance, like everything in life.

If I had to describe ADHD to a layperson so they can understand what means to have ADHD... I would describe as to having something in your brain that you don't control that is always conspiring to get you to do nothing, if it fails to have you doing anything but what you want/should be doing; Wherever this is accomplished by making you forget, distracting you, robbing your willpower, making it hard to concentrate, making other things seem more appealing, hyperfocusing you in any random stuff, etc. Doesn't matter to the conspirator as long as they get you to waste time against your will, even when you want to waste time doing something you like, the conspirator will get you to waste time another way, for they are just a prick.
Of course there is no conspirator and I am just personifiying symptoms but that is about it what means to have ADHD on a practical levelm explained in words everyone can understand. There can be other symptoms that are not related to this like forgetting about contacting people you care about or the need to have something in your hands to fidget or not being able to remain sitted but those are secondary and very dependant on the person, the most debilitating aspect that almost every ADHD person has, just manifested slightly different, is that of stopping you from doing what you want/must do, worst is that some of that stuff you can willpower over it, but some you can't, willpower does naught when your brain makes you to temporarily forget that you were doing or you have to do a thing.
Worse stuff is that a lot of individual symptoms of ADHD are things that "happen" to everybody so they judge from their own experiences which is not fair as it is not the same when a non-ADHD person gets distracted or forgets things as when it happens to an ADHD person. Those comparations is like comparing a scratch to a wound that is spilling your guts, one you can shrug off, the other you can't.
