I took the Waymo from San Jose airport to home on the peninsula. It took the 101 highway back for the most part, driving very conservatively at 65-55 mph, and in the right most lane. It still has a few quirks though. When there aren't any cars around it will speed up to 65 mph, but at on-ramps, it will slow down to 55 and then speed up once past. It will get stuck behind slow drivers being in the right most lane and patiently follow them a few car length behind them. On the plus side, the lidar stack field of view as shown on the internal display seems to see pretty far down the highway.

A G4 (Severe) geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for the 20 January UTC-day due to Earth-arrival of a coronal mass ejection (CME). The CME blasted from the Sun on 18 Jan, in association with an energetic R3 (Strong) solar flare from a sunspot region near center-disk, and is anticipated to arrive at Earth as early as late 19 Jan EST to early 20 Jan. While the G4 Watch is out for the 20 Jan UTC-day, geomagnetic storm levels could range from G1-G3 (Minor-Moderate) upon CME arrival later on 19 Jan EST.

Agreed completely. Part of this deal is that the Canadian auto market is no longer protected against Chinese EVs which substantially undercut the legacies. There is also news that the Europeans are making about to make a similar deal with China. Imagine what the United States economy will be like if Stellantis, Ford, or GM or all of them go bankrupt. 3-4 million in lost jobs alone.
Trump wants to tariff countries that support Denmark and Greenland. That's like all of the other NATO countries. What happens if NATO doesn't exist? No more bases to support Middle East operations and no more intelligence sharing.
It will mean more support from the Canadians and Europeans for moving trade to be denominated by Renminbi.
I don't think the Republican leadership has thought through the implications to the US with their deal with the devil.

Good to know. I'm repeating what an EM doc told me available in her community hospital i.e. they only have Tamiflu and Paxlovid, which is why even if she did have access to Viral panels, they couldn't do anything more to treat those other viral infections.

Not a doctor but I know some- Viruses are notoriously hard to diagnose because they don't culture. Some big academic hospitals do have a virus panel where they use brute force PCR assay akin to many Covid-19 tests targeting different virus but they are very expensive hence not broadly available. Community hospitals will have the same diagnostic experience you have. At most they might be able to test for Flu or Covid but that's about it. Another reason is that even if you test positive, there is very little the hospital can do. For the most part, just tell the patient to rest and take Tylenol/Ibuprofen. The anti-virals are just limited to Flu and Covid.
