<p>There are 100+ popular extensions around Postgres. They have dependencies on the internal data structures of Postgres. If someone spends the time to rewrite Postgres on Rust and it doesn't support these extensions off the bat, then its DOA.</p>

<p>I use VSCode, Claude Opus 4.7, github work trees to work on multiple projects. At most I work on 3 projects a day. More than that and I start hallucinating myself.</p>

<p>It's too late to embrace, extend and extinguish and Microsoft has moved past that era. I think this is an attempt to gate keep the inclusion of opensource libraries in the distribution that have contributions from unverified users and potential state actors.</p>
