Yeah, the marketing is cringe and it's a bummer that such a cool and powerful technology attracts such an icky group of enthusiasts. Surely, not all are bad, but man there are lots of goobers who are just AI-pilled hypemen who can't STFU about it.

I've used untyped languages extensively, and even built my own, and the errors I get at runtime are almost never type-based, and that's even more true now that LLMs can pump out code. For all the additional ceremony types add, I can't say I've personally realized their benefit.

Also here to say I've been a happy Fastmail user for like 7 years after moving away from gmail (or Google Business or whatever they used to call it) and it's been AWESOME.

I wouldn't say vice-versa is true. GPT 5.5 routinely finds major mistakes made by Opus 4.7, but I've yet to have it work the other way around.

Anybody know what the most capable Chinese model is that can be used in production and is cheaper than US frontier models? Would that still be Deepseek? My interest is getting as close to Gpt5.5 or Opus quality as I can get, but for less $.
