My city (Louisville) would be a prime candidate due to proximity to UPS WorldPort, and Amazon already has a bunch of facilities here.
That said, screw these guys. I'll make sure to have my voice heard if my city tries to offer them tax rebates to come here. Everyone needs to pay taxes, especially gigantic corporations. I hate that companies like this even have the nerve to expect these sorts of breaks.

> This is a common misconception among folks who don't cycle. Cyclists are actually safer on the street.
Heard this a thousand times and I don't buy it for a second. The speed differential between cyclists and pedestrians is an order of magnitude different than the speed differential between cyclists and cars. And the argument about driveways and intersections falls 100% flat on it's face if you use the incredibly basic assumption that cyclists should (a) use crosswalks and (b) shoulder check when crossing driveways.

How much content are they auto-completing? Seems like this could easily end up with some other organization's proprietary code auto-filling inside your project. This is very dangerous; it's either only auto-completing single standard-library function names in which case it doesn't need cloud connectvitiy, or it's auto-completing actual code which opens up users to IP issues.

I have been paid to write an algorithm like this. It matched you to relevant content, but then a manually configured weighting table would skew results to more popular sources. It went as far as taking into account the number of leads we had sent each partner that month as a percentage of their quota

A couple thoughts:
- Why did you copy/paste this on the bug tracker (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-files/+bug/17...) and find/replace 'Ubuntu Community' with 'HackerNews community'? Doesn't that seem a little bit patronising to both parties
- Why didn't you actually address the issue? You said a lot of words but at no point did you say whether or not you would be removing this "feature" OR keeping it.
