Yes. The people who are amazed with AI were never that good at a particular subject area in the first place - I dont care who you are. You were not good enough - how do I know this? Well I know economics, corporate finance, accounting et al very deeply. Ive engaged with LLMS for years now and still they cannot get below the surface level and are not improving further than this.
Its easy to recall information, but something entirely different to do something with that information. Which is what those subject ares are all about - taking something (like a theory) and applying it in a disciplined manner given the context.
Thats not to diminish what LLMs can do. But lets get real.

Im admittedly bearish on LLMS but believe there are benefits to be exploited in the underlying technology. I have personally found a way to utilise it as an input to produce a superior user experience within a product than what exists for the market I am targeting.
I agree, its not intelligent. You have to accept that as a fundamental premise and build up from there to figure out where it makes sense to utilise the technology - oh and if you have to refer to the technology and make sure the user knows about it, youve already failed. The user frankly does not care nor do they need to know of its existence.

The issue is, as it stands, LLMs are going to become a commodity. Could that happen and OAI is still a valuable firm? Maybe. Do I personally think OpenAI has the product prowess to pull it off? Nah, I think they are overly-concentrated with technologists (same problem Google has). Apple is still king when it comes to figuring out the ideal form of the product the buyer desires.
Apple can take a future OSS model and produce the winning product. That truth would be very bitter for many to swallow. Cook maintaining good relations with China could be the thing that makes Apple topple everyone in the long-run.

The magic of Jobs is/was he truly was a self-starter and self-taught man; he had the rare mix of traits necessary to be a visionary.
Frankly I think Jobs saw Cook as a key operator to ensure the firms future survival and future growth; I'd imagine Jobs foresaw the tremendous impact the smartphone would have and all Cook had to do was be a shrewd operator as Apple had built such a huge advantage over competitors by the time he was dead.

I personally called it within my circle that when Friar was hired she was going to commit a tremendous blunder. It may have been innocent, but the trend is now reversing in regards to its mantlehold of mindshare of consumers.
Someone I know who has been an absolute staunch advocate of chatgpt, and has been for the best part of the past 1.5 years suddenly changed their tune earlier this week. That is my signal that things are turning south.
There will be a reprieve for some time, with increasing revenue. But eventually that will jam to a halt and all the doubts will intensify.

The evolution of Meta/FB is quite interesting.
It started off seemingly innocent - the mission of connecting folks. However, there was no money in that.
Where is the money? Content production. What content generates a continuous growing stream of earnings? Content that appeals to the senses of all kinds - including selling a get rich fast dream to girls promoting their OF pages.
What you have is an environemnt that preys and feeds off of consumers who have a lack of discipline with their money and are easy to manipulate - providing a nice ROAS. This is Meta in a nutshell.
Zuck enjoys roll playing a roman emperor - I have no doubt behind the scenes he laughs at his contribution toward the declining tastes, standards and self control of individuals.

This is because put simply, at the core, humans are dumb. We are only intelligent to the extent we acquire knowledge and formalise it to understand the world and make rational decisions to ensure one is better off.
GIven that the majority do not possess this trait, the outcome is nothing but inevitable. The mistake Jobs made was assuming that what he thought about the world should ring true for everyone.
