The question is though, "Can you build anything that actually works?"

I only looked at PhotoCraft and it has some huge issues.

I want this on the macOS Settings badge.

Have no intention to upgrade my Intel Mac Pro to Tahoe, so Settings is going to permanently have the "something needs attention" badge I guess.

Was just coming to comment on that too.

> immediately flagged as a bot account

You have to disable all ad-blocking (either extensions or Pi-Hole) in order to make it past that "feature".

Unfortunately sometimes you can't even vote with your wallet.

I was bored yesterday and started watching a stupid documentary series about UFOs/UAP on Netflix. It was immediately obvious that the voice over was AI slop bullshit. All I could do is stop watching and thumb down it, but they still have my money. :(

You don't relinquish copyright by using a FOSS license though, right?

AOC/Agon OLEDs also have the annoying nag that fires repeatedly to say "Your monitor will go into pixel cleaning mode in 10/5/4/3/2/1 minutes". I still haven't figured out how to easily defer that, and it's super annoying when in the middle of a Rocket League match that the monitor just turns itself off to pixel clean for 10 minutes.

My mistake, I was under the impression Reddit was the place for facetious "funny" comments.

Aren't you clever knowing the periodic table symbol for gold! Actual Intelligence could grasp this was a simple keytranspose typo...

I'm fed up of Croatia never appearing in lists of EU states. I'd get involved if they were added to this site.

I read the backtrack free "pretty" as "pretly" at first; it adds cognitive load to understand it as intended.

The other thing I really love is the cross-platform support.

I don't have to tweak my usage of the terminal depending which platform I'm on.

I just have to remember to use Ctrl+Shift for copy/paste on Windows/Linux.

New comment by richrichardsson in "XOR'ing a register with itself is the idiom for zeroing it out. Why not sub?"

richrichardsson — Wed, 22 Apr 2026 08:13:15 +0000

For 68k depending on the size you're interested in then it mostly doesn't matter.

.b and .w -> clr eor sub are all identical

for .l moveq #0 is the winner

> Did generated code decrease the price of software products?

I think it's too early to say.

You could argue that if software development is low effort due to "vibe coding" then it doesn't have the same value as it once did. Perhaps there'll be a race to the bottom by new entrants to the market who don't need to pay a whole development team and can massively undercut the incumbents. Or perhaps the race to the bottom will be in quality along with price, but the savvy user will see the value the incumbents provide.

This came up in the Discord party chat, basically there isn't a size limit in the rules[1], but going beyond 2GB would be concerning that it's not a real-time demo but instead just playback of animation.

Not sure I agree with the final takeaway point. At least from a personal standpoint anyway. I used AI images in a couple of Amiga intros, but actively admitted to using them. At the time there wasn't quite the backlash against their use, so now would completely steer clear, but not having access to a graphic artist is reflected in the output I've managed in the recent times (zero).
