I'm an AI engineer with a computer science and some actual AI background. I am trying to make Claude good motivation letters for applying to jobs. It currently scores a 6 out of 10. I'm much better still. And it has access to all the relevant parts of my psychology degree and data about writing good motivation letters.
All I can say is: the motivation letters don't look like they're written by AI anymore.

I'm building an education platform. 95% is vibe coded. What isn't vibe coded though is the content. AI is really uninspiring with how to teach technical subjects. Also, the full UX? I do that. Marketing plan? 90% is me.
But AI does the code. Well... usually.
People call my project creative. Some are actually using it.
I feel many technical things aren't really technical things they are simply a problem where "have a web app" is part of the solution but the real part of the solution is in the content and the interaction design of it, not in how you solved the challenge technically.

It doesn't matter. The supreme court has made Trump immune, Trump has no accountability. He can just do this and face little consequences.
Your steelman means nothing. Nor does the opposite.
We're powerless. Trump isn't.
The discussion should be about accountability of his actions first. When he can actually be made accountable then steelmanning and debating his actions in general can come into play because then it will actually mean something.

I was late diagnosed with autism at 35 due to sleeping difficulties. I don't have a lot of social difficulties. I currently have some at work but before this job I didn't have issues. I have 0 dating difficulties, mostly because I tackled that issue in my early teens studied everything I could find and at one point I just got it. I'm not sensitive to light or smells. I am slightly sensitive to sound such as sirens from an ambulance. My special interest revolves around learning anything and everything (basically the Hacker News ethos about being curious), which is also atypical as it isn't a restrictive interest.
The comments here need to be a bit careful with what autism is as it can present itself very differently in people. In part this is because the medical establishment doesn't know a lot yet about what it is. Only quite recently did they find that there's 4 subtypes [1].
It's funny. My wife, non-autistic, tells me I'm one of the most emotionally intelligent men she knows. She keeps saying that. In part, I trained it through meditation (1000 hours in), in part it's just really about paying attention. She hasn't been the only one. I've also met one person at times saying I lack empathy and come across as robotic at times. But I can tell you, in general, I empathize and feel things. I have noticed that I can't always communicate well that I understand what other people mean. When I was younger they went on to explain it to me and it was always really annoying since I understood but people thought I didn't.
I often go against the grain with things because I think things are foolish. If I'd have done otherwise, I'd have definitely been trapped into the toxic masculine culture and drink a lot more alcohol. So often times what I do may not look empathetic or sympathetic but that's because many people don't care that they are toxic themselves and then just put the emotional burden to me.
Related to empathy: ever since I got the autism diagnosis, to the people I've told, I've seen an uptick in them saying I'm not empathetic at times by one person. So sharing your diagnosis does give some people a prejudice over you that shouldn't really be there.
[1] https://www.princeton.edu/news/2025/07/09/major-autism-study...

> But, no way to change that in public perception without taking risks and being open about it.
Yea, I can't take it. I've fixed my dating life but I'm not a charismatic leader by any stretch of the imagination. I've taken multiple stabs in Reddit threads but there is just no good faith discussion to be had. I've also tried it a bit on HN. On HN it's also very dicey.
> So, if you're an HN reader, not wanting to be branded as a PUA but still want to find help socially (especially romantically), my two cents is look into the Ars Amorata community.
Interesting, will check it out. I don't need help by the way. I'm married. And for social skills that I'm still lacking, I know where to go. Unfortunately, not all social skills in dating transfer well to work social skills.
Edit: just checked it out. Good to see Zan is still doing his thing. I remember him "I love women". He definitely influenced me with that quote back in the day.

> instead of just "winning" interactions
Mainstream pickup artists yea. Some niche ones, not really. Wayne Elise feels like a good example, from back in the day.
On a throwaway because the judgmental people will judge me for the rest of my life due to me nuancing that not all people associated to pickup artists looked at social interactions in a zero sum way.

So you want me to be perfect with 0 mistakes, while you don't have to be? Why are you on this site if you don't extend good faith? How can I be completely irrational when you don't even bother to read all of what I posted?
Admittedly, it was a quick google search as I'm not an expert on this topic. I just know that I've heard many instances of it.
Why didn't you do the search yourself? You could've saved me the trouble.
Assuming that you are American, you live in a country where they can go through your phone when you are at the border and detain you for weeks if needed [1]. That's an issue.
I'm open to admit that I was wrong on the first article. You were open enough to read it.
You're not open enough to read the second link.
That seems to be the factual account of what is actually happening here. Everything else is opinion.
Feel free to post evidence that no US citizen has been screwed over by ICE or CBP without due process.
[1] https://www.aclutx.org/en/news/can-border-agents-search-your...

One link, or both even, could be wrong as this was a quick search. Are you willing to admit when you're wrong about something?
You could've done it yourself but you didn't so I did a quick search for you. You're not open enough. I also don't spend hours upon hours on this.

Not the grandparent but for me it's taking DMT. I am not as articulate as neom but my first time (and breakthrough) gave me a similar perspective.
I think DMT unlocked it, I don't think everyone taking the substance would have a similar experience. I think it's neurotype/personality dependent.
It helps that I meditate a lot and know a thing or two about Buddhism, that part really came out during my first experience.

Some drug info teams at festivals told me I'm the most responsible drug user there is when I told them that I take MDMA at most once per year but preferably less.
Also the test lab I come into were excited to see me when I came in to test DMT.
But I prefer to do it in private with a close friend, or two. I've done it twice at festivals (MDMA). In both cases, while it was fun, it was also quite chaotic at times.
Countries where you can test your substances [1].
[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_checking

I'm not sure. My parents are heavy drug abusers. All my grandparents were alcoholics.
The only thing I'm mildly addicted to is coffee and I roll once every 2 years on mollie.
A few differences:
1. I've been pushed hard to do education. I did and became way more science-minded than anyone in my family.
2. I've seen the effects of drug abuse on my parents/grand parents. I was anti-drugs until 21.
3. I opened up experimenting when I was 27. All my parents/grand parents got hooked between the ages of 13 and 16.

Hey Peter, I appreciate what you're doing here. I made a throwaway account since I don't want this part of my personal life to be on HN and tied to me in any way.
I'm currently waiting for about 6 months to get my marriage case reviewed with USCIS (CR-1). The USCIS website at one point said it'd take a few weeks, now it's back to a few months; Reddit is unanimous: don't trust what the USCIS website says. I've looked at Visa Journey and based on that it seems to take about 15 months, if I recall correctly.
In your experience, how long does it take? When should we ring the bell when it is going too slowly? Also, does it matter that I'm from a northern/western European country or does it not matter at all?
