Theres a lot of speculation about TWA Flight 800 so thats pretty interesting. I some how stumbled on CPAN one night and the guy that wrote TWA 800 Crash Cover Up Conspiracy was giving a talk. Listening to the commenters afterwards, all were either engineers, pilots, or former air force and seemed to be in agreement with the author. Theres a TWA Flight 800 documentary as well.

Absolutely. Look at marijuana. Most people I meet that oppose legalization also oppose the government defining their moral values. It's backwards.

In both of the companies I've founded, I had to wear too many hats. As a result, I have not excelled in any particular skill, rather I've gained medium level of experience in variety of skills from development to product design to finance.

You gotta be nicer to yourself. Honestly, in my mind its impressive having exceelled in all of those areas. And you found 2 startups and the second one was a success, although not in your eyes, which you gotta stop saying and start understanding or asking what success really is.

Physics makes me a Physicist Thats not what I said. Thats comparing apples and oranges. I would bet my bank account your are Jewish, and you are religious in the eyes of this Jew, regardless if you are as religious as your father. I dont doubt the talmud is intellectually interesting, but the reality is those that are studying it ARE religious. Even the koreans you keep referencing; even if they aren't religious at all, they are in the minority for those studying the Talmud that way.

Well, speaking from a secular point of view, studying the Talmud in and of itself makes you religious regardless of the education you are getting from it.

You are funny. You are basically orthodox for whats considered Jewish around me and yet you don't even think of yourself as ,"very religious".

Thats awesome. Congrats to your nephew and you and your family for sticking with him. Addiction is not easy; with marijuana people tend to push it to the side, but its just as important as the other drugs like opiates. Maybe not as addictive, but I need rehab, thats how I feel, so I just have to stay clean to avoid that type of repercussion. Realistically, because I have been so successful in the industry, NO ONE, even my mom (love you mom) would tell me I have a problem, but I do. And its tough on the soul to know that I have that type of problem.

The best I have ever felt was when I beat the addiction and took 6 weeks off when I entered college. First fall break I got hooked on the ganja again, and really thats been the story of my life since. But I had this thought that I literally just have to do nothing to get back to feeling that way. And for now, I feel like the terminator, "I'll be back." ha.

Seriously tho, thanks for your comments. Means the world to me. Funny how your nephew getting clean can flow into hn and affect users like me that are real humans with real lives.

Thank you! I love it, "midnight to midnight." I know it will get easier. Today, honestly, that seems impossible, but tomorrow I WILL have my second day in a row for the first time in 11 years... and I will look to your comment for motivation. I like that I have no idea how huge it is, because thats what I believe deep down.

*note: I don't do facebooks or twitters. This is my community, tho I only know 2 other hn'ers in real life and I coulda made a throwaway, but who the hell am I?

If you don't think marijuana is addictive, than you don't smoke like I do. For the last 16 years I have been completely stoned by this time of day. I used marijuana for the first time when I was 15. I am 30 now. In the meantime, I went to and graduated from a top college, was an honors student, an "entrepreneur scholar", won a ton of cannabis awards and have been mostly a complete pothead.

I am in the cannabis industry, which makes stopping getting high that much harder. Last year I won 4 High Times Cannibus Cups, the year before I won 2. I have finished in the top 3 a bunch of other times and top 10 with everything I have ever submitted to the cup. I have won other lesser known cups and finished second in the latest cup. In the high times issue out this month, the cannabis I grow is 7 out of the 20 "strongest strains on earth." And that includes the number 1 highest tested CBD strain. 20%cdb with minuscule amounts of THC. Yet seems to me these last 24 hours are a bigger accomplishment than anything I have ever done in my life. I didn't smoke weed today; and I know that for a lot of people thats pretty normal.

All in all I have to stop being a slave to cannabis. Once I realized that, I was done, because its too true. Everything I do is for that beautiful maryjane.

I post this to brag, I fucking did it, 1 whole day . But I hope its clear if I did it, you can too. HN is my community; I have learned so much about life here and this is where I come to share my life and knowledge and learn from other people with similar interests and possibly similar life experiences so while this might not be exactly on topic, its whats happening with members of our community and hopefully this can shed some light on that.

I did google it, thats not the point. It wasn't a "word" I didn't know, it was an abbreviation of a topic that was the main source of the top comment (at the time).

if you want to participate in the comments a baseline level of understanding isn't a big ask.

Thats not fair. I came to the comments after reading the article to learn more about the article. I think its considered poor quality to make a comment like ADF is the worst. Without referecing what ADF is first, or without being referenced in the article.

MVNO = mobile virtual network operator. My biggest pet peeve when talking about technology is not referencing the full name of something you are going to abbreviate as if everyone knows it. The article makes no mention of MVNO so reading your comment I had to google search what exactly you were talking about. A lot of coding books and developers tend to do this and its always bothered the heck out of me.

edit: Can someone explain the dv? So people are in favor of random abbreviations?

Companies have a staff for each area that goes around repairing the appliances and those people get jobs and the companies sell more appliances.

I bought a GE refrigerator last year. Just a few weeks after having it, I woke up one morning to the thing not getting cold. GE insisted they come to look at it, while I insisted they replace the refrigerator. Repair guy comes on the first visit 2 weeks later, tries some different parts, tells me, "I'll be back next Friday.", which was 7 days away. He comes back the next Friday and determines the refrigerator is unrepairable. It had heated up and completely warped the inside. The repair guy had to take photos and video for corporate. That means a brand new refrigerator went straight to the dump. It's upsetting. And note how much time it took before this poor guy could get to me. He was booked with appointments.

This was a month long fiasco. I had spent time researching and purchasing the refrigerator before hand, which was even more frustrating. During the month without a refrigerator my only option as I saw it was to bite the bullet and buy another refrigerator. That refrigerator has been great, albeit my standards for a 'great' refrigerator have lowered.

Exactly. It really reminds me of the boy who cried wolf. Republicans made a point to question Obama's faith and whether he is a secret muslim or if he was born here. Meanwhile abhorrent policies are being enacted, but we did get the birth certificate. In the sense of using a distraction to further another agenda I feel like Obama and Trump are the best of the best.

I totally agree with your other point that others are catching up and I think they realized they don't need to have an entire organic store just certain key items(grass fed beef, good produce to make everyone happy.

Making the absolute best it can do the equiviemnt of a fan on the roof which can't replace AC.

You are right it won't replace the AC, but the technology could lead to a reduction in overall AC use.
