Seems like about 3 collisions per 100 million pictures. If everyone have 1000 pictures that is 3 collisions per 100 000 users.

Raiding 2 people in my city for made up CSAM pictures would be way to high false positive rate.

But you can also make any picture match a CSAM hash by adding picked noise.

Apple's CSAM hash filter removing peoples photos (did it notify the police too?) could be an indicator of how false positives on big scale work out.

There is a big difference between automatic data collection on my habits and local staff recognizing me. The later is nice socialy. The former is to my disadvantage.

Such recruiting selects for KPI hunters. It is probably bad for an org to select for people that game it rather than doing "what is right".

A dice throw and some chitchat would be better recruiting.

It is different for different users and different at different times. It is probably especially bad with few contacts that write on FB or if you log in like twice a year.

Similar confusion on HN comments about SaaS UX arise when there is AB testing and some are victims and some are not.

An analogy would be automatic raid wait rooms in WoW.

Like what is the point of making grinding in games more efficient as you remove the fun and social aspect and the advantage of organizing a party.

I think the lure with matchmaking was that when it was introduced, it made you really good compared to before by easier access to better practice.

In Data 2 the skill level shifted upwards enourmously for pro players and I feel also for normal players. But the scene also got kinda lame and boring with too optimized strategies.

There is an pink elephant behind you. In practice, I believe that at least after the dust have settled, events of the type of "Count Ferdinand was shoot dead infront of 100 witnesses", like maybe 1/50 are fake? Dunno what share.

The faking part would be in who is blamed and what country to bomb etc.

Time alone is essentially zero sum with kids unless grandparents are covering up way more than most actually do. There is no adversial angle needed.

I think the main selling point of Windows Search is spying and manipulation. Turning off websearch just leaves a carcass.

It works versus serious companies cold calling you. Scammers and semi-scammers still call. There is some need to adress what it doesn't solve too.

Yeah. Should be possible to do those proceduraly to save ram and some clever animation design to not use too much CPU.

Anyways it is a bad trade off for the users to make and most don't even know they areaking it.

Yes something like that. Devs are in the position of apprentices and helper boys in the context of blacksmiths.

Equity is mostly not handed out in a way that grants power but the opposite to tie the dev to the workplace. Some lottery tickets are winners though.
