The "nuanced" argument you're responding to at least gives a window into why LLMs all talk about this same sort of nonsense and have this same bias. This kind of thinking is absolutely rampant these days -- especially on Reddit, which makes up a large portion of the training data.

You can't imagine that someone working on something like this would slow down as the work neared completion? Why must a piece of software / code constantly be changing? What's your specific concern? You're making a very strong claim that the "project has stalled" without any real evidence. Furthermore, the project "stalling" makes it less... what, exactly?

This entire article is clickbait.
- Headline "My new car has a mysterious and undocumented switch".
No, this is not a new car. This is a used car. Finding undocumented switches in a vehicle someone else owned is very common. People modify their cars all the time. Finding an undocumented switch in a new car would be wild.
- "And that’s how the search comes to an end. After a bit of perseverance I figured out what it is."
You literally took your car to a dealership, and the mechanic told you what it was. This ENTIRE ARTICLE boils down to this statement. You did the bare minimum to investigate what it was: took the panel off and confirmed that the wires went __somewhere__.
How does this get upvoted so heavily on Hacker News?

This kind of outrage is fun to read. Someone gets themselves all worked up after hearing an offhand comment. Then proceeds to take a few paragraphs to set up what a shining beacon of kindness and compassion and calm consideration they are, before ending the post with the truly measured "cautionary word" of: "don't say stupid shit".
Meanwhile, they never once addressed the central claim of the thing that made them so angry: some engineers aren't ready/willing to be customer facing. Instead they ranted about the benefits of introducing engineers to customers, all of which of course are true, but none of which address the original claim.
The self-importance of this person was beaming straight through my monitor the entire time.

Pretty sure a dog will eat through a toothache too, but no one has mentioned anything remotely like this situation. You're bending over backwards to rationalize the really odd behavior of invoking a dead puppy friend to encourage a dog to eat. They will eat when they're hungry.
And in your strange example, if this dog wasn't eating due to a toothache, the parents are forcing the dog to anxiously eat through the pain of a toothache.

They're not "practicing murder". They're not "practicing killing you". Stop with this hyperbolic nonsense. The military practices murder, not you and your mates in your local BJJ class.
Do you say these things to make yourself feel cooler/tougher when you inevitably tell someone you practice BJJ? And I'm sure they didn't ask, you just worked it into the conversation (much like this post) because you can't wait to tell everyone you practice murder.
