The microkernel analogy for the Component Model vs WASI is actually a really useful mental model that I hadn't seen framed that way before. Component Model as the always-present kernel, WASI as optional OS services on top. That framing makes it obvious why browser implementation of the Component Model is tractable even though browsers have strong opinions about I/O, and why 1.0 for the Component Model and WASI are separate milestones. The lazy ABI change is also underrated, zero-copy forwarding between calls is going to matter a lot for the use cases where WASM actually competes with native.

The scariest part isn't the bad patches, it's that an agent overwhelmed a maintainer into merging something they didn't want to merge. That's not a technical attack, that's exhaustion being weaponized. Maintainers are already stretched thin and now the volume of confident-sounding noise is infinite and free. The attack surface was always human attention, not code review.

Love the one-variable design where scale and translate stay in sync automatically, just wish Firefox would get off the flag already.

F# has had this for decades, C# is basically just slowly becoming F# with a C-style syntax. Not complaining though, most teams aren't switching languages so getting these features where people actually work is better than nothing.

Decentralized web has been a pipe dream forever but group chat actually working in practice is more convincing than anything they could have shown. Real time sync was always the hard part.
Curious about mobile though, you mentioned iOS is the main blocker because of wasm restrictions. Is the plan to run the peer on desktop and have mobile just connect to it, or are you expecting people to run a full peer on Android?
