I think the point is that Bend in a much higher level than C++. But to be fair: I also may be missing the point!

I didn't know happiness until I had a daughter. I thought I had a pretty happy life until she was born.

A neutral third party to the dispute? Serving as a mediator?

If you can't argue with him, maybe suggesting that someone, other them you guys, should hear your and his complaints and problems. Like a marriage counseling, i guess.

For me, its the other way around: I think I'm ok with my job history/pedigree, and when I check HN, it feels like I'm the dumbest person in my area. It seems like I'm not even trying.

Read about the T-Shaped profile mentioned on the Valve's Employee Handbook[1]. It's a nice concept on how to know when to learn something new and when to learn more about something that you already know.

And calm down: HN users are really heterogeneous. Trying to be like everyone here is impossible. Even you find someone with the same profile as you, it is a nice thing to know that there is something new to learn. A bigger problem is when you don't have anything new to learn.

Edit: And answering your question: I feel overwhelmed when I learn somenthing new here, and there is already another article telling me that what I learned is obsolete.

I have to disagree: a lazy search on Google shows only a few countries where this doctrine is legal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_immunity

I was alarmed that this concept (sovereign immunity) could even exist. I thought, at first, that only in monarchies this could be a thing.

This. It was my youth too. Besides the fun, it molded my career. UO was the ultimate reason I did CS. I learned to script in EasyUO to up chars in unofficial servers, and sell it to friends. I learned something about web-development so I could set up reports and graphs of my char progress, and manage that from school, over the Internet. I even learned something about "phreacking" (what a old word) so i could connect to the internet for free.

I feel old. Must be the same thing that people from the commodore/amiga era feels like...

And that's why we have other companies around the world have software for that; that's why we have other types of legislations too: to circunvent DRM schemes.

Hey Eduardo, I tried to commend on your blog, but it seems that someone entered an html tag in the last comment and didn't close it. It screwed your comment system.

I'm from Brazil too, and this kind of stuff didn't surprise me. But you have to contact a lawyer and ask for help. Our legal system isn´t the best, but we have to make some effort to make it better.
