The cost(and size) to train models is also increasing and is still 60% of the cards that Nvidia is selling. Losing 60% of your most profitable revenue stream I think would do bad for a company regardless of how much inference is increasing "dramatically"(all this means is the GPUs are dead sooner and the cost to do this massive inference increases too)

Uhh I think a lot of people and their families likely have investment exposure to nvidia/hyperscalers. if places like Amazon spent unrealistically on ai or their stock goes down massively that could mean major job losses too.

If AI companies aren't that profitable...then they're going to stop spending so much money on GPUs to train AI models. A gigantic amount of Nvidia's profits would go bust overnight.

uh yeah, all the subscriber numbers from ai companies are because it was baked into every product humans already used on their tech i.e. browsers and search engines.

let's have the tool we created as a society called "the government" regulate it instead of waiting for "the market" to price things accurately.

Because let's be real golf courses will pay higher prices and poor people will suffer the burden if we wait for your idea to magically happen

Yeah people aren't mad about datacenters because they are "anti growth"

They don't want to see their local resources depleted and, no, this isn't some fantasyland where corporations will do anything "for the greater good" that isn't in line with their pockets.

Also just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's not depleting resources and making life worse for a community somewhere. People are constantly trying to build pipelines to the west to deplete the great lakes. There is a societal and ecological limit and these AI companies are not worth it.
