I looked up `-c` on macOS. It says it causes cp to use clonefile(2) instead of copyfile. So I looked up clonefile(2). It says:

    NAME
         clonefile – create copy on write clones of files
    
    SYNOPSIS
    ...
    
    LIMITATIONS
         Cloning directories with these functions is strongly discouraged.  Use copyfile(3) to clone directories instead.

But no explanation of why strongly discouraged.

I like the direction, but stewarded feels just a little too awkward to type or say to catch on. Perhaps "guide coded"? But it will be really hard to dislodge vibe coded from being generally applied to this concept, I think, in part because it is a catchy little term.

Lots of comments about Gas Town (which I get, it's hard not to talk about it!), but I thought this was a pretty good article -- nice job of summing up various questions and suggesting ways to think about them. I like this bit in particular:
