What examples of this are there? I've usually found Wikipedia to be quite equal opportunity, well rounded, and factual.
They have their NPOV[1] policy, and seem impressively unbiased to me, given the various divisive situations they have to try to cover.
[1] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_v...

Folks are saying Bandcamp, but surely that's only for the few indie artists that are on there (in comparison to the wider music ecosystem covered by Spotify). Please explain if I'm missing something here.
So I think a better answer is Qobuz[1], which I recently tried. I had a pleasant experience, where I downloaded DRM free FLAC files. I will use it again, but sparingly, as the cost adds up on top of the Spotify subscription and in comparison to piracy.
[1] https://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/shop

I see what you mean, but I was going by the definition of "UUID" used on everyuuid.com. The UUID of 32 "f's" isn't in the list.

The values are hexidecimal, so all "9s" isn't the biggest UUID, but all "f's". Specifically, I think: `ffffffff-ffff-4fff-bfff-ffffffffffff`.
The "4" in the 3rd block is the only permitted value as these UUIDs are using the GUIDv4 format. I'm not sure what's going on in the 4th block, but the references and linked RFC in the Wikipedia article might reveal more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universally_unique_identifier#...

I was utterly disturbed by a story sent into the Kermode and Mayo radio show many years ago. The listener explained that their family went to the theatre, sat down in their seats to watch the film, and then upon the first utterance of the title of the film they would clap, stand up, and walk out.
I assume this to be a joke. I've never found any reference of anybody doing this online, or anybody even discussing this one story from the show. But holy shit does it make my skin crawl.

A couple of years ago Troy Hunt printed a map of where he lives in Gold Coast[0], using a separate piece of plastic underneath to show off the canal running by his house. I spent a while trying to replicate this and eventually gave up as I was missing way too many skills (as well as a printer). I might have another bash at it using this project - thanks!
As an aside, has anybody in the UK used a 3D printing service that they would recommend?
0: https://twitter.com/troyhunt/status/1460146136514134021

This is no different to how many people behave on long haul flights anyway. Face mask on, eye mask on, ear plugs in. Isolated from everybody else as much as they can be, trying to sleep, and they manage it in isle seats.
Also, I remember TotalBiscuit talking about using an Oculus headset to watch films on a plane and it being a better experience than the screen in front for him (I don't quite remember why). So it's not a new concept and this device just makes it less cumbersome, I guess.

To give (pretty limited) contrast, a response from ChatGPT gives 99.9% fake, and another comment from this thread gives 0.1% fake.
I assume that means the comment text was GPT-assisted, with some moderate editing from a human.

Ha, that's an interesting take. My Dell work laptop has these (not full-sized) and I don't like them at all. There's nothing fun about trying to use the arrows and accidentally slipping onto a key that isn't usually there, which might scroll my cursor/window by a huge amount. My fingers expect no space there, so it makes the whole area less distinct to touch to have the spaces filled.

>I absolutely hated the mandatory 1-3 days chatting
That's fascinating, as somebody who loves this period and thinks of it as a requirement to find out my compatibility with somebody before we go on an actual date. If you're not up to scratch on the initial few days of chatting then I have no interest in taking it further. And I appreciate that many people aren't interested in this, but then it just means the two of us aren't compatible, and that's fine.

Ah, mostly the same for me! (I'm very happy with it this way and wouldn't expect the site to change). But I do this on a couple of other text-heavy sites also, but not many.
So often a zoom will break complicated UI layouts and their JS interactions, so I appreciate the simplicity of this site allowing my user agent to customise my experience and still have it work.
