A lot of companies are marketing products based on very shallow work and shallow understanding of the technology. The engineers and data scientists who know what is going on at these companies are silently coping with having business leaders who have been told about the limitations and are selling snake oil.

What kind of people are gravitating towards AI Safety roles-- activists? How does an organization avoid activists mucking up their models when a disproportionate number of applications is an activist? I guess the answer is to actively recruit for the position rather than accept applications.

no mention in the article of "Type I", "Type II", or "Type III" cannabis indicates that the research wasn't exhaustive

the story here is that there was a hemp strain called Franklin that was getting cbd consumers high. it was considered a hot batch of hemp. growers cultivated additional Franklin derivatives and brought out higher THC-A strains. eventually, growers said to hell with Franklin, let's just sell high THC-A, low THC strains. this categories includes a wide variety of retail strains sold for recreational use today

so, yeah. you can get real cannabis, no weird stuff, that will get you absolutely lifted and delivered to your house in most of the states where recreational remains illegal.

if you're asking why you haven't heard about this, it's because loose lips sink ships. why am i talking about it now? it doesn't matter anymore!

Business decisions involve profits against everything, not just security. Delaying shipments to make a product more secure can affect revenue targets.

You don't need to empathize. You simply need to respect privacy. People have lost privacy, and that's an issue to address directly rather than take privacy away from others.
