I use Obsidian with my Claude (and Codex) but not sure what additional value the CLI would provide since it's just markdown files. What am I missing that a CLI provides for AI? And not sure how the sync fits into it unless there's a copy of the vault that the AI is working with over CLI? Can use a tip.

I'm curious about your book journey. Sounds like having a big audience and pre-existing list really helps! How did you go about building that audience and list, and what helped the most to doing that? Which lists / audience converted the most for your book offer, and how did you promote or otherwise let folks know about your book? What was the compelling ask to pre-order a book? And, how do you plan to publish the book? Lots of book questions

I agree - my reference to the 1990s VP of IT was looking at the post, which is about on-premise data centers... not the cloud. I don't think there's a speed advantage for on-premise data centers now vs the 1990s, but if there is let me know. Otherwise, indeed, it's a 1990s-era blast from the past.

Everything comes circle. Back in my day, we just called it a "data center". Or on-premise. You know, before the cloud even existed. A 1990s VP of IT would look at this post and say, what's new? Better computing for sure. Better virtualization and administration software, definitely. Cooling and power and racks? More of the same.

The argument made 2 decades ago was that you shouldn't own the infrastructure (capital expense) and instead just account for the cost as operational expense (opex). The rationale was you exchange ownership for rent. Make your headache someone else's headache.

The ping pong between centralized vs decentralized, owned vs rented, will just keep going. It's never an either or, but when companies make it all-or-nothing then you have to really examine the specifics.

It's a mirror of what's happening everywhere. It has become easier than ever to create something whether that's content or an app. But because of that it's harder than ever to get attention. Quantity is drowning out quality and people are becoming desensitized to new creation.

The key issue here and in many similar cases is for governments to define what they mean by sovereignty. Because if it means not only ownership but also keep it out of outsiders control then it means that governments will by necessity have to get involved in data ownership and data sharing arrangements of the companies that run and manage their systems. Trust is eroding quick.
