i think an important nuance and the reason we don't suddenly have a sovereign wealth fund is it’s not a centralized US Gov buying stakes. It’s a bunch of different government entities using different pools of capital
- Commerce dept: Intel, IBM quantum, GlobalFoundries, D-Wave, Rigetti, xLight
- Dept of "war": MP Materials for rare earths, L3Harris rocket motors for munitions
- Energy dept: Lithium Americas / Thacker Pass, Westinghouse nuclear
- White House: U.S. Steel golden share

Besides just being yet another example of the Trump admin abusing power and weaponizing legitimate laws in illegitimate ways to extract concessions, there is another reason this is dumb -- which is that Anthropic just has the best models!
As someone who wants America to win, ripping out Claude and putting in xAI is a terrible idea.
Very cool post, but as someone who has been on the other side of the situation, I do have sympathy for what they are trying to accomplish.
I bought a ticket that someone had double sold, and by the time I got to the door, they turned me away and said the ticket had already been used. So their system has good intentions, they just need to make it work offline.

Over the last year I have acquired several cash flowing SaaS businesses and realized it's an exciting space to be in but there's no "YC" for the world of SaaS - no great, free community for folks to discuss deals, growth strategies, and meet each other.
I’m starting this community as a space for those serious about finding acquiring software businesses. My hope is that it can help people share learnings, talk strategy, and maybe even team up and buy companies together!
https://community.crucible.fund/join?invitation_token=1386ee8cce9247b9f3a4f0e13f32c155b21697f1-d6df7d99-c3f5-440f-9db2-5cc710f063fb

I have a cluster on RunPod and it's great, but there's definitely some opportunity in the space, for example if you can focus on transparency (utilization rates, more info about end user and their purpose, reporting) that would be helpful.
I think RunPod and Vast have most the market share but t's still early to the game

Excited to share something I've been building recently called ReplyGuy. I made it to solve a personal pain with a SaaS product I built, which was that we were always monitoring Reddit and Twitter to see if anyone had mentioned keywords indicating they were looking for us. Before, we had to go manually respond to posts, often missing good mention opportunities.
Would love for HN folks to try it and let me know what you think!

This is great news and required a lot of courage from Governor Newsom. He was put in a tough place between two of his largest supporters (tech and labor). Paradigm shifts like autonomy are hard in the short term, but it never makes sense to hamstring technology to preserve jobs - if that were the case we'd still be paying punchcard operators instead of using computers. Not to mention that this will make our roads safer.

Sharing the PR Review CLI tool I built with 2 friends recently. I have found that it's surprisingly capable of finding bugs, logical errors, and typos before pushing.
You can use it on your own branches or to get a second "opinion" on colleagues code - just check out the target branch and run `scan`.
