Remind me of how in modern Irish, a prefixed t- appears before vowels in masculine nominative singular nouns. It relates to Proto-Celtic masculine nominative singular article *sindos. The t- is what remains of the d and s from Proto-Celtic:
an t-athair - the father
an t-úll - the apple
an t-each - the horse
an t-ospidéal - the hospital

I've a 18 year old and a 20 year old. Both boys in college. Despite my being an electrical engineer and they're having grown up in an environment where I've always had computers and electronics of various kinds about, they really never took an interest. They are both education majors and are taking up my wife's calling in teaching. Which is great, but they really don't have a clue about technology beyond Xbox/PS5/iPhone.

One interesting side effect of the Great Vowel Shift occurred when the word Uisce Beatha (Whisk(e)y) was anglicized twice. It was first brought in during the Elizabethan period from Ireland as "Whiskey" and later re-brought in as "Whisky" in Scotland. I've often wondered if that is the same reason behind surname anglicization of Ceallaigh to "Kelley" and later "Kelly".

My concern would stem from them attempting to replace the firmware with Android Wear. Because Android Wear is licenced they may feel pressure to use the same os so as not to upset licensees such that any improvements to AW on Fitbit gets shared. Or they may go the Nest route with custom firmware based on Fitbit. It will be interesting

The difference in spelling is due to the fact the word for Uisce Beatha was brought into the English language twice. Once from Irish Gaelic before the Great Vowel shift in English and a second time from Scots Gaelic after the shift.
