WSL doesn't have a virtualization layer, WSL1 did have but it wasn't a feasible approach so WSL2 is basically running VMs with the Hyper-V hypervisor.

Apple looks like it's skipped the failed WSL1 and gone straight for the more successful WSL2 approach.

If you disable telemetry in the windows setting it also disables telemetry for PowerToys [0], I agree it's not ideal it's not hard.

How does this compare to PowerToys Run[0] which is what I use instead of the current awful start menu and search in windows.

PowerToys Run has search built in and can search pretty much everything in windows including files, folders, windows, the registry, settings and more.

Yes, it works well but there is a limit of 16k words. See this reddit comment thread [0] for more details, but if your documents are anywhere near that big then I'd say Postgres is definitely not the right tool for you.

I often see complicated search solutions implemented when PostgreSQL is just sitting there with its incredible FTS powers being ignored. Agreed, EdgeDB[0] looks to be trying to solve a lot of SQL's perceived flaws with EdgeQL[1]. It's not the first attempt and I suspect it won't be the last but composability is explicitly one of the challenges it addresses.

For a visual tool I'd recommend giving IcePanel [0] a try.

For the diagrams as code solution, happily it looks like mermaid will soon support C4 [1] so their should be native support in lots of places soon (github, gitlab and lots more have built in support for mermaid)
