Do you know if it's possible to cap expenses on Scaleway so you don't end up with unexpected charges (due to bandwidth or whatever)? I mean, having your services stopped until the next cycle begins or you decide to pay more. I knew this wasn't possible for Hetzner, for example, but I'm not sure about this one.

The EU is only making these statements until the US has a new president (with the same ideas of Trump, as has always been the case, but saying nice things in public).
Also, in the mean time, their announced "sovereign solutions for the European citizen" look ridiculous: now you'll be free from Visa and Mastercard for your payments but at the same time you'll need a phone approved by either Apple or Google.

Is it that different? Being Australia in alliances like "Five Eyes" I don't think you can keep your stuff away from the US at least when using Fastmail.
If you want both US & EU away from your data, I suppose you will have to consider things like Yandex Mail, which comes with its own set of problems too, of course :)

> First, I tried mailbox.org, which I can generally recommend without reservation. Unfortunately, you can’t send emails from any address on your own domain without a workaround, so the search continued.
I had read about other problems about this mailbox.org service, but not this one. Anyone knows what's the catch when trying to send emails from your own domain?

Same here. I remember some kernel module or video driver named tdfx, and then, struggling to make X11 work with this DRI (Direct rendering infrastructure or something like that) setting on. It was very rewarding to see it enabled on glxinfo's output after days compiling half of your system and trying to figure out what was wrong, specially when the access to the internet was limited, and then being able to launch GLtron with hardware acceleration. Also remember playing Quake 3 and America's Army games around that time.
Fun times, now everything is straightforward on Linux but I somehow miss that era when you actually had to do everything by yourself.

> Trump is temporary and best to just quietly wait it out, unless you want to smell like shit.
Everything is temporary in this life. All the harm that Trump could do, too. So I don't think we the Spaniards should get involved in this "Epstein Coalition" illegal wars. Remember, all Trump's threats are temporary, as you said.

In my country there are regulations in effect too that mandate the use of MFA; however, using an application is not the only way to implement MFA, as I said, in Spain banks can use SMS, coordinate cards, etc., and they are all valid MFA methods.
I think what these laws are missing is the obligation for the service (the bank in this case) to provide a MFA device if the user doesn't have one.

Complain. Mine wanted that, but after complaining they offered me SMS. If not, I'd have closed my account there. At least here in Spain there are plenty of banks that don't force you to use apps. I also leave bad ratings for banking apps from time to time, and bad comments on X.

So, leaving aside the discussion about whether someone wants to use their bank's application or not, what's the bank response if their application just doesn't work in your phone? That you must purchase a new phone or be locked out of using your account?
I hope, now that the debate about our excessive reliance on American tech is on the table, that we also put limits on those essential services, like banks, imposing the usage of products from only two companies (Google or Apple) in order to operate. I think that goes at least against the spirit of the European Union.
