I figure as technology progresses, we'll get more/tighter beams for more efficiency, especially if something like 5G massive MIMO could ever work on a satellite.

I've noticed very similar degradations in performance moving from a Pixel 3XL to a 7A.

When disabling "Android intelligence" (iirc this is what runs WiFi location scanning in the background) from running in the background, the 7A would take much, MUCH longer to get a GPS lock on a window sill, vs the 3XL right next to it... as well as lower SNRs and fewer satellites seen and used.

I don't get it.

How?

When canbus is already two wires, and by definition, is a bus, so you can just keep stringing those two wires to any module you need. I know Ethernet BUSes exist, but what advantage would those have to canbus then? They're both two-wire buses.

I remember back when Chrysler did that and researchers were able to shut a Jeep down mid-drive by attacking the internet-connnected infotainment. This doesn't sound great.

I do the same with an old Optiplex and OpenWRT but I want to make clear the power consumption of an x86 box is magnitudes higher than an embedded-ARM box and is something to consider when leaving running 24/7. If you were to use a NUC or NUC-like form factor, power may be less of an issue.

Next they'll come for our OpenWRT-flashable equipment.

I've already done everything the article says to do years ago, but what happens when this equipment dies? Can I get a replacement, and is it flashable? I currently use "routers" as access points because it's the cheapest way to get an AP for OpenWRT.
