New comment by shironandon in "Why My Asus Laptop Kept Rebooting After Sleep and How to Fix It"

I had a similar issue with an HP Omen gaming rig I have. Fix was the same as the article but I put up with it for years.

Sometimes I would investigate but the monotony of tracing things in the Event Viewer and analysis was too much for my ADHD-addled brain. Enter Claude CLI and working through it with prompts plus allowing Claude to execute PowerShell to diagnose was painless and resolved the problem.

New comment by shironandon in "Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans"

The consensus should largely be expected which matches shared LLM training data and serves a pressing reminder of something made in our own image.

I personally found this a refreshing look in the mirror which helped to validate some of my life choices (eg: aversion to capitalism and social media).

We are now in the "hunker down" phase of global warming.

I prefer not to click anymore and instead ask AI to summarize a URL for me. The Brave Browser Leo AI is great for this.

this sounds great as long as law and federal enforcement agencies can also access that password manager app as-needed.

New comment by shironandon in "OpenAI’s CEO says the age of giant AI models is already over"

"The great supercomputer Deep Thought is the most powerful computer ever built, with one exception. It was designed by hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings, who wanted to know the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Its creation annoyed a fair few philosophers, who felt that it was taking over their turf.

After seven and a half million years of serious cogitation, Deep Thought spoke the answer. However, it was so inexplicable that Deep Thought then had to go on and design the most powerful computer ever built (with no exceptions) to work out what the question was."

New comment by shironandon in "Orcas are breaking rudders off boats in Europe"

shironandon — Thu, 25 Aug 2022 15:54:03 +0000

If orca associate humans with taking their food, killing whales (eg: Faroe Islands), and polluting their habitat it's not surprising for them to instinctively react against this threat.

Monkeys groom one another to remove lice.

Humans are the lice.

New comment by shironandon in "No one is certain what Roman bronze dodecahedrons were used for (2018)"

shironandon — Wed, 29 Dec 2021 07:10:03 +0000

First they take the dinglebop, and they smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then repurposed for later batches. They take the dinglebop and push it through the krumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice. Then a schlomi shows up, and rubs it, and spits on it. They cut the fleeb. There are several hizzards in the way. The blamphs rub against the trumbles, and the plubus and grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with a regular old plumbus.

try the other things too and hope it helps.

phosphatidylcholine caps look like fish oil and seem to generate an anti-inflammatory response for me and this research article:

It feels disappointing that they "cracked it open" but I guess this was for science. Now it has depressurized it would take a significant amount of energy to pressurize davemoaite for exciting experiments similar to those taken to explore superionic ice.

have had similar and suggest:

- swap coffee for green tea

- supplement phosphatidylcholine daily

- drink hot water with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar and honey at night

- measure humidity in your home and make sure it isn't too dry

For me this reduced inflammation and GERD issue presenting sore throat at night. May take over a week to start noticing results.

I have actively used Vagrant, Consul, Terraform, and Vault and I really have never understood all the fanboyism for Hashicorp. Their products are OK but easily replaceable and often redundant in modern cloud providers. Wish them luck on their attempt to cash in but I for one do not intend to buy any stock.

New comment by shironandon in "The Reactive Monolith – How to Move from CRUD to Event Sourcing"

shironandon — Thu, 30 Sep 2021 06:39:27 +0000

Was working on a client's stack and this one critical piece using ES (written by "experts" who had since left the company) was throwing an error every week at 2 AM triggering alerts and chaos.

After investigation I found nobody understood what it was doing or why. I thereby found the safest approach was to delete the ES implementation.

After that everything worked and everyone was happy.
