Basing your major infrastructure choices on Ubiquiti feels a kickstarter purchase every time. Huge claims, borderline religious following community, an intentional and almost proud absence of technical support, and a coin toss if the product line will still exist in 24 months.

And when they work as advertised they are fantastic.

I was definitely taught this in those terms and at that age.

Perhaps the unexpected response comes from its recall ability. It’s not the personality of a child, just the material a child is exposed to.

Again, this is covered, to an extent. Speaking only for England & Wales, the courts have pretty broad costs powers. Especially if one party is bringing litigation unreasonably. There’s no ceiling to it either, it just has to be defensible.

It’s also on the court system to leverage procedure correctly to add safeguards against the kind of behaviour you describe.

I understand anecdotally the US system is more open to abuse of this nature, but I don’t know the details. This article though was specific to UK.

This is a thing, and in the context of the article too. In UK, if an employment tribunal finds you’ve wasted the tribunals time they can and do order costs paid for both the tribunal and other party. Odd they don’t mention it.

I’ve been hacking on an outdoor sound monitor for 24x7 logging of birds and bats around my house the last couple of weeks with a live indoor monitor: https://github.com/simonjgreen/OpenObservatory

And today I knocked out an improved trmnl plugin for Japanese flash cards at my wife’s request as she liked the native one from trmnl but it lacked furigana https://github.com/simonjgreen/trmnl-japanese-vocab

Note: I let AI do the vast bulk of the work on both counts, and I ideated, architected, and bug fixed. I do love AI coding hobby projects though, when you have an idea for a thing and know exactly how to put it together but don’t have the time to raw dog the whole thing.

I mean at this point just ditch the Unifi? You have a much more capable gateway in play now that needs to have equal to greater throughput than the one you are bridging for.

the metaverse went from being about owning your identity and digital possessions to mostly being about buying jpegs. once collectibles and nft speculation became the headline, it was hard to explain why any of the underlying technology mattered. after that, most people just associated the whole thing with speculation rather than the original vision.

which is a shame, I still feel like VR is full of untapped potential

They didn’t call it a mnemonic. They are suggesting recalling a movie scene to remember AAA. And imo, it’s a great one that I’ll be reusing to help others remember! I have to remind folks of the difference frequently at work.

This comment got me curious, as it felt attainable/more commonplace to me. I did some searching, and according to gov.uk stats 7-10% of homes in UK are custom/self-build homes. That is actually surprisingly high!

Also, wanted to note I appreciate your stance on AI:
