Intelligence is only good up to a point. The successful people I know were not the best students and their parents were not the most obsessive parents. Those kids generally ended up having more difficult and troubled lives. Trying to make your kids geniuses is a mistake.

If you don't like the "hate" speech, present a better argument. If you can't do that, the hate speech is simply the stating of inconvenient facts.

The interesting question is why having a different definition of the German people than "anyone who happened to come here and has lived here for a while" should be considered an extreme position. Throwing out all history and ancestry as a core component of the identity of a group of people seems rather like the extreme view.

Yes, traditionally women would engage in passive aggressive slights and backhanded compliments more than men would, who would more likely engage in a physical fight. That is a pattern based on historical reality and observed and acknowledged the world over. Your attempt to make it a pathology to recognize and affirm the observation is itself a pathology, a rabid ideological one.

Here's a study that looked at precisely the kind of thing this policy will address: https://www.cspicenter.com/p/increasing-politicization-and-h...
To be clear, I would be in support of this policy even if there was no evidence because it sets a tone that I think is positive.

I support the purported intent of this policy, not the misuse of it. But that's something that has to be challenged when it happens, and it hasn't happened yet. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to make any policy since it could always potentially be misused. For the record I expect there will be some misuse of it, but broadly I also expect it to curtail the fake woke "science" that was itself a kind of misuse of the system.

That's literally what the quote says: "From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled". And then it goes on to quote a long list of words that would be characteristic of woke social science "research".

Putting aside the histrionics that Nazis are everywhere and about to kill everyone, does anyone have a good theory on why Elon would do this? Like is he just regressing to a 13 year old troll now? From the last few weeks you'd think he just went full clown. He's a 50 something year old man with 10 or 12 kids who apparently doesn't do much of anything besides troll people on Twitter, what's going on with this man?

Yeah, Tesla being a tech company instead of a car company is a con, all the publicity stunts - boring company, Hyperloop, Mars are all cons to attract attention. The crypto stuff is all a con. Elon is very good at getting a hype flywheel going, particularly in this age of man children.

It's 2025, if you're just seeing the trouble with Elon now you're probably not as smart as you think you are. He's a fake and a con artist, and when he's not those things he's a ruthless tyrant. It's not a credit to Sam's moral character, which he clearly rates very highly, that he was ever friends with the guy in the first place. Sam likes elites, but he prefers them more refined. He's just lamenting that Elon's letting it all hang out now.
