I have the k10 he special edition! I am so happy with my purchase, I love the magnetic switches (they feel much nicer to me than mechanical), it's nice to look at, the build quality is great, and the software is really solid. Very impressed overall :)

I quit drinking a year ago because I was experiencing severe anxiety and depression and that was a part of my regiment to help myself out of the hole. I think what helps is having a goal other than just quitting. For me, that was trying to feel good again. I had some alcohol a few days ago for the first time in a year and noticed anxiety a few hours later, so now I have no desire to return to drinking.

That’s great for you, but it’s quite common for vegans to suffer from b12 deficiency. And that’s just a commonly tested one but meat also contains iron, taurine, creatine, and a lot more that is hard to get from non meat sources. Personally I went low meat (not even close to vegan) and suffered. My b12 was low normal, yet I definitely felt the effects.

Piptools [1] resolves this by having a requirements.in file where you specify your top level dependencies, doing the lookup and merging of dependency versions and then generating a requirements.txt lock file. Honestly it’s the easiest and least complex of Python’s dependency tools that just gets out of your way instead of mandating a totally separate workflow a la Poetry.
[1] https://github.com/jazzband/pip-tools

This is very good timing for me, I just left my python dev job and am starting a job where they use Ruby. I’m very excited to be using Ruby again, it’s a much nicer language to use for a variety of reasons I can’t possibly enumerate. Ruby’s stdlib and surrounding documentation is pristine, I vividly remember being appalled when trying Python for the first time and thinking where the rest of it was. The major issue I find with Ruby (and that I saw mentioned elsewhere in this thread) are imports / requires, which is much too magical in Ruby; Python’s import is way saner

I don’t think it’s quite as rare as you think. I don’t have sources to back this up at the moment but some common deficiencies include vitamin D, b12, magnesium, zinc, sulphur. Our modern practices have denuded the soil, plants and animals of a lot of their nutrients so nowadays it’s indeed hard to be at good levels of nutrients from diet

Sure, but healthy foods contain more nutrients, that’s why they can be called healthy. So fueling your body to excess with a lot of nutrients will lead to a much better functioning body than doing the same with garbage

You’re right it’s a bit harsh. I admit I don’t fully understand the reason why obese people can’t climb out of the hole they’ve dug. It’s psychological like you said but also societal (food is becoming less nutritious, as well as readily available empty caloric foods). If people lack the ethic to revert course then we need to start fixing the underlying issues causing people to overeat to such an extent in the first place.
I still think it’s helpful for people to know that their weight issues are usually fixable as long as they have the determination and desire, there’s people that do this every day and share their journey

1. Ok sorry, I’m not trying to rigorously define what an illness is, I’m just saying obesity is categorically different because it’s self inflicted and reversible
2. It isn’t wrong in every situation, just in this particular one the motivating factor is lack of willpower, prioritization and education. There isn’t an “easy way” as of right now. If one comes along it will also likely carry side effects
3. Its usually ill-informed because the difficulty of dieting is a known one and steps can be taken to alleviate or bypass these issues. Usually medication with outsized effects have proportional side-effects. And we don’t always know what they are. I don’t leave out the possibility that someone could invent a pill that causes huge weight loss with little side-effects, but I would bet a lot of money against it

Being fat isn’t an illness in the same sense as we normally define it. It’s a conscious decision making process that is self-inflicted. It’s lazy to turn to medication just because the real method is difficult. Most medication has side effects, deal with the root issue instead

You can try experimenting with supplements. I’ve been taking l-theanine and I’ve been sleeping throughout the night now, whereas before I would wake up within 3 hours. I think my GABA levels are low which also manifests as anxiety so you can look into which neurotransmitter(s) you suspect are the issue for you and experiment accordingly.
Of course, cleaning up your lifestyle will do wonders for your neurotransmitters over the long term. Focus on diet, exercise, and reducing stress. Good luck

I agree that causality isn’t established in the human studies. But with the population studies and the mice studies where causation is established that is a strong suggestion for further research as you said. If I were a betting man I would bet a lot of money on this link though, based on my experience and these studies (and there’s more). I think you would too, to a lesser extent :)
And I’m pretty sure one of the human studies does establish causation, although I don’t have time to see which one

I don’t see what’s so bad about it. Half of my waking hours are spent working, a lot of the other half are spent eating, working out, and relaxing. Am I supposed to spend an hour a day hanging out with people after work? Not only does that sound exhausting, it doesn’t seem like enough if that’s my main social interaction. At work, there is a shared goal and a community that I can be a part of, and it’s there for me for most of my waking hours during the week.
