I was on a Zoom call a few minutes ago and my machine was struggling with responsiveness, which I haven’t seen happen - and there’s been a lot of Zoom usage this year. I assumed it was Zoom related but this makes more sense.

Hey y'all! I've been working from home for 10 years now and I can't imagine trading it back for office life. Today I work at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Tumblr, and WooCommerce and being a fully distributed company we can live wherever we'd like.

My wife and I with our two kids have been calling North Idaho home for the past 9 years. We love it here and I'd love to see more of y'all moving out this way!

I started a side project (https://NorthIdaho.io) to help more folks move to the area. I'm starting out by curating a weekly list of rental properties. It's free, with no catch. I'm also offering a premium version for those in a hurry and looking for a bit of extra help.

I'd love to know what y'all think and also happy to answer any questions you have about North Idaho living.

Stripe now paying out funds in 2 days rather than 7

Got the following email from Stripe a few minutes ago:

We're excited to let you know that we've sped up how quickly you'll receive your money with Stripe.

It used to be the case that there was a seven day delay between when you charged a customer and when funds arrived in your bank account. We've reduced that delay so that any future payments you receive will be transferred to you in two days rather than seven days.

If you'd like to be switched back to your original seven day transfer cycle for any reason, please let us know! We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about this change.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely keep it in mind. The upsells are a bit troubling to me, though. Mom doesn't need SSL and certainly no website creation tools or hosting (WordPress all the way). I'd like to recommend a registrar that really just focuses on domains.

SEEKING WORK, REMOTE (Pacific Time)

I've been building businesses since I was 13. At 26, with 10 years of web development experience, and 7+ years working with WordPress, I'm looking for extra work on Sundays to pay off a few debts and save for our second baby (they're expensive).

During the week, I work at a startup building paywalls for the newspaper industry (pigeonpaywall.com).

When it comes to working with WordPress, I can do just about anything. On top of my technical skillsets and experience, my specialty is communication and training. I am highly responsible and efficient.

I'm a match for:

- Someone looking to turn over responsibility for getting a website done (even down to copyediting and content orgnanization).

- Someone looking for a competent developer to take a design over to WordPress.

I'm not a match for:

- Someone looking for a low bidder - I'm not desperate for work, just looking for new opportunities and ways to accelerate cashflow.

- Someone who feels a need to micromanage - As a first-born recovering-perfectionist, I am highly detail oriented.
