I like this, I’ve been tracking with MyFitnessPal. Would be great if I could import historical calories to see how it performs.
Also note that tracking calories is hard - often it’s an estimate so quite hard to vary by the small amounts above and below the threshold needed for continued weight loss.
Also losing weight is hard!

Which reminds me of a weekend I took a few years ago where we drove to Edinburgh from Manchester on day 1 then up to Arisaig on day 2 to camp on the beach - then back to Edinburgh for a wedding on day 3 and then back to Arisaig the next day to continue the long weekend. Then full day drive back to Manchester.

The uk government development service as you call it is not a service. It’s more of a declaration of process that is adhered to across diverse departments and organisations that make up the government. It’s usually small teams that are responsible for exploring what a service is or needs and then implementing it. They are able to deliver decent services because they start small, design and user test iteratively and only when there is a really good understanding of what’s being delivered do they scale out.
The technology is the easy bit.

I have visited 2x -
Once recently and it was very impressive.
But I also climbed the towers in a thunder storm in 1990. Which was a terrifying experience.
The stairs had about 50cm of stone balustrade on the inside which was not enough to feel safe. I was on my hands and knees by the very top.
It was either real or vertigo but I swear I could feel the tower sway as the lightening and thunder crashed all around. A most treasured experience

That chimes with my experience. Back in 2009 my (then) 9 year old son made a few stop frame lego movies and we posted them on YouTube. Some of the comments were really mean. I remember being surprised by the response but found it quite amusing. We still joke about our favourite comment: “You’re an embarrassment to the stop motion community”

I don’t think it’s about ability or interest. It’s about presence. There’s loads of developers out there with a range of skills. I work with devs who are great who you’ve never heard of and others who aren’t so great who you’ve never heard of.
I’d consider myself in the 99%. I aspire to market myself but I’ve got lots of interests and I’m quite a private person so I find marketing myself in conflict with that aspect of my personality. But get me one to one and I’ll happily talk about my latest interest (which by the way is Directed Graphs).
