Fully agree and am pretty disappointed reading replies on here. Anyone familiar with the demographics of this forum? What % male is it? If you have women in your life, ask their thoughts on this. It’s easy to not understand problems that don’t exist for us.

i guess it will depend a lot on where you bought

some parts of california have been affected by insurers more than others, but in those more minimally affected? prop tax is suppressed via prop 13 (for better or worse), and the cost of insurance is a drop in the bucket relative to what id be paying for a roof over my head otherwise tbh

yep

my life cannot be uprooted based on the whims of a crummy landlord or because my obligation has crept out of my budget

i bought conservatively and now have a tiny payment relative to what i’d otherwise have to pay to live in the bay area. peace of mind is hard to put a price on

The entire point is that experts are doing this triage for you, and building upon fruitful lanes of research.

To think that as an outsider to a field you are qualified to discover 'gems' (and between the lines here is a bit of an assumption that one is more qualified than researchers in the field, who are of course trying to discover 'gems') seems misguided.

How on earth have you not found it empowering? Have you used it for answering questions?

It’s resolved countless questions of jr devs at work, helped me migrate a C++ project to Python, and continues to help me solve problems in personal and professional projects.

This post is very confusing. It is an amazing utility for engineering (to say nothing of other applications - it gave me a great recipe for dinner the other night, too)
